Got my package today from Mr. Tony! Anyone have any advice on cutting this into some slabs? I really don't want to mess it up!

Anyone have any advice on cutting this into some slabs? I really don't want to mess it up! ...then have someone else do it! Just teasing...seriously just kidding...I couldn't help myself! I can't wait to see some of your cabs from that material. I keep thinking about it...but haven't pulled the trigger. God knows I'm about out of material to work! ETA - If it were me cutting it, I'd be cutting parallel to the rutile...that way it will for sure be in a cab...

I didn't need any more rocks, either, but this has been on my list...

I would cut those with a trim saw. Thinner blade than a slab saw and no chance of breaking from a fall in a slab saw.

1/8 inch slabs on a trim saw, then back with 1/8 inch slab of black backing material. Doublets with the material looks very nice

Thanks- unfortunately I only have my tile saw... 1/8 inch slabs on a trim saw, then back with 1/8 inch slab of black backing material. Doublets with the material looks very nice Thanks, I didn't think about a doublet.

Just like with any chatoyant material, look at it wet with the sun (or really bright light) coming over your shoulder. Flip it all around until you find the orientation that best displays the flash. Use a small penlight (I like the mini MagLite) to backlight the rough to look for internal flaws and feathers. Do that with the rough dry. Sometimes wet rough will hide the internal characteristics.
Those two things should help you plan your cuts for cabs that really show off the rutile.

There seem to be a few flaws but overall they're nice pieces. Thanks again! Those are gorgeous, Mike. Can't wait to see them cabbed. We'll see...if I don't screw them up! 🙃

You'll do fine.
