I'm posting these two days after Halloween simply because time was not my friend this year. Normally all my pumpkins are finished prior to that day and already photographed. A third pumpkin was never even touched. I hope that you enjoy these two... This was not supposed to be an evil elf, but the original idea was headed for disaster after some poor cuts. So mid-cutting I had to improvise as I went and ended up here. The weird thing is that he turned out to be a fairly good image of a family friend. Running out of time fast now, this guy is pretty basic and reminds me of some of my early pumpkins. Hustling with sharp tools is never a good idea, and a careless flick with the scalpel in my right hand left a small, clean cut on the end of a finger of my left hand. I breathed a sigh of relief at not having to run to the emergency clinic that I had visited earlier this year. That was a more serious cut from a mat cutter.

Your pumpkins are an artform, Gary! Even rushing, they're outstanding.

It would not be Halloween without Gary's pumpkin carving.

Amazing pumpkins! Now I am curious to know what the orignal plan for the first one was :-)

Thank you! It was going to be a head with its skull cap removed and brain exposed, and a suitably anguished expression. It's in the hopper for next year...

I'm in awe, Gary, opalpyrexia, especially having never seen your carvings before. When people stated asking about your pumpkins last week, I imagined the standard fare of grinning teeth,
but NO, you're the Michael Angelo of pumpkin carving.
