This week I got a box of material (out of the blue!) from Brent ( Starguy )! I'm not sure he's going to be pleased to find out two of the slabs he sent me had parallax banding going on!! Thanks Brent! The Botswana has the parallax happening along the left edge of the cab. You have to view it a little above and towards that side to get the effect. The first Crazy Lace has it going on in that fortification pattern right in the center. The second one has it going on in that pocket lower right. The camera angle was right to capture it in the photo. I'd say the Botswana is one of my top ten cabs I've made so far. The white specks you can see are a part of the banding. This is one of those cabs where I can't find a flaw anywhere on it... I'm also including pics of two Fairburn Agate cabochons. These two were self-collected...and both are freeforms.

That skinny freeform fairburn with the druzy pocket is a nice one, even better that you self collected.
That one needs a delicate wrap, IMHO, so as not to overwhelm the nicely cut stone.

Goodness jasoninsd. You definitely did those slabs justice, but I knew you would. I new about the parallax in the Bot but not the crazy lace. I’ve had quite a few bots with spots lately.

Man Jason! Those are amazingly beautiful!! Love them all! The first is so pretty and the waves in the bands adds to its charm. Love the colors in the last one! Brent is a very kind guy indeed!

They are so beautiful... Thanks PS! I had a smile on my face while I was working each of these! ... I'd say the Botswana is one of my top ten cabs I've made so far. Thanks Gary! I see what ya did there! LOL That skinny freeform fairburn with the druzy pocket is a nice one, even better that you self collected.

Patty Thanks Patty! Yeah...I haven't made up my mind on how to wrap that Fairburn yet. There's a wrap I've been wanting to do...but it's far from "delicate"! LOL Goodness jasoninsd . You definitely did those slabs justice, but I knew you would. I new about the parallax in the Bot but not the crazy lace. I’ve had quite a few bots with spots lately. Thank you my friend! I was seriously surprised when I saw the parallax! These are actually the first cabs I've worked that had the parallax banding. I thought I knew what it was...but I was wrong. Then holajonathan sent me some tumbles he had done that all had parallax banding. Of course, he wanted them back after I looked at them! LOL Man Jason! Those are amazingly beautiful!! Love them all! The first is so pretty and the waves in the bands adds to its charm. Love the colors in the last one! Brent is a very kind guy indeed! Thanks Ashley! I absolutely love the "flow" in that Botswana! God did good on that one!

What a depth in those agates!!! And what a perfect match between the shape and the pattern in the first cab!

What a depth in those agates!!! And what a perfect match between the shape and the pattern in the first cab! Adrian Thank you so much Adrian! I was showing my wife the pictures of the Crazy Lace last night. She asked if the pictures were out of focus because it looked like the banding was "doubling up" in the picture. I zoomed in and showed her how the fortifications were in them. She was amazed! (In fairness though...she does need reading glasses and wasn't wearing them when I showed her the pic originally! LOL) I am so amazingly pleased with how that Botswana turned out. At first I was going to follow that outside curve on the left exactly like the banding...but then I thought it would look too "mechanical". So, I made sure to leave that extra little "bulge" on the outermost left side, just to leave some "negative space" on the cab. (Not meant to sound like I'm patting myself on the back...just explaining my thought process on that one! LOL)

That bot is pretty incredible, and the rest aren’t far behind, nice work! One day I’m going to have to dedicate some saw time to cutting some bots. Thanks my friend! Watch out...they're like Thundereggs. Once you cut one that's a "stunner", you start going crazy looking for that next "big one"! LOL

Thanks my friend! Watch out...they're like Thundereggs. Once you cut one that's a "stunner", you start going crazy looking for that next "big one"! LOL Whole thundereggs and agate nodules absolutely NEED to be cut in half in hopes of that incredible display pair, cabbing material is a byproduct of this process lol! I learned that lesson quickly when it came to splitting Teepee Canyon Agate nodules. Choosing the right orientation is something that HAS to be done correctly...or the result is a lot of tumble fodder! LOL

That Bot is amazing, Jason! You cut that one perfectly. Thank you so much my friend! That Bot truly was one of those cabs where the pattern was just screaming at me on how to accentuate it with the shape of the cab.

Awesome cabs. I love Bots so that is my pick for best in show. Thanks Diane! I think this will be the first time I put a Botswana above a Fairburn...and now it's TWO Fairburns that get moved to the background! LOL
