Here are some more cabochons I made from material Brent ( Starguy ) sent me this week. What is not to love about any of this material?!? Everything took an amazing polish!! The first two are Burro Creek Pastelite. One circle is 30mm and the other is 25mm. I know how I'm going to wrap these...and they're going to be identical wraps...little sister and big sister! The third one is Berber Agate. The colors are really brilliant in hand! Fourth is Brazilian Agate. I altered a stencil shape to follow the "flame" that I saw. Five, six, and seven are Bruneau Jasper. After cutting these out on the trim saw, I knew they could get chippy...so I never touched them to the 80 grit wheel. I started the grind on the 220. I love everything about these pieces...and the similarity to Bat Cave Jasper is unreal. Brent...super big thank you again for your generosity!!!

jasoninsd Maybe you could do some fancy double wrap, like top and bottom, sizes probably aren't different enough though....
Beautiful work

Nice patterns following the shapes & a sweet polish (as usual ).
Those round pastelite will be nice wrapped, look forward to seeing those done.

Fantastic cabs jasoninsd. I got lucky this year and picked some pretty solid rocks to slab. When’s the Dahl show?

Hubba hubba. The bruneau does me in. Thanks Brother! There's only a few types of material I've worked that polish as well as this Bruneau...wish they all could take a polish like these! LOL jasoninsd Maybe you could do some fancy double wrap, like top and bottom, sizes probably aren't different enough though....
Beautiful work
Thanks Chad! I get what you're saying. I've seen some "over/uder" wraps...or even dual cab wraps. However, I actually made this for a specific wrap. I don't do many circles...so I had to whip these out to try the new style! LOL Thank you my friend! I'm having a hard time keeping up with the amount of cabs you're pumping out here lately! Nice patterns following the shapes & a sweet polish (as usual ).

Thanks Patty! Those circles are going to be a style I've never done...we'll see if I can follow the turorial! LOL Fantastic cabs jasoninsd . I got lucky this year and picked some pretty solid rocks to slab. When’s the Dahl show? Thanks Brent! The show is on the 19th and 20th of this month...so right at two weeks. The pressure's on now! LOL Awesome cabs Jason! Love them all especially the 3rd one! Thanks Ashley! The colors in that Berber Agate are really vibrant in-person!

jasoninsdI need to ask how long it took to rough out the Bruneau on 220. That stuff takes forever to cab even with 80 grit. I know what you mean about “chippy”. It’s kind of a pain to slab too. It sure does take a nice polish though.

Wow! I honestly don't have a fav unless I can just say BRUNO! Thanks Tela! I think for me it's a toss up between that Brazilian (which I'm not usually a fan of Brazilian Agate cabs...) or that last Bruneau.

It sure does take a nice polish though. I've been discovering a new way to grind on the hard wheels the last week or so. Ever since I got the cabbing machine last December, I've always ground the preforms on a horizontal type path. By doing it that way, I was able to see the exact angle of each of the steps (step one 45 degree...second one at 60 degrees - or whatever they're supposed to be). But by doing it this way, the point of contact with the wheel is VERY small. The last week, I started grinding on a diagonal path on the wheel. By doing it this way, there's more surface area of the cab making contact with the wheel. So...the time it takes to grind is significantly less than the old way I was doing it. I can't see the angle of the grind like I used to...but honestly...I can tell the angle just by "feel"...and relating the orientation of the stone to the curvature of the wheel. I'm not sure if that made sense...or just sounded crazy! LOL So...to answer your question...maybe 5-10 minutes...if that...

Outstanding polish on all the cabs but the Bruneau is off the charts. Now I got the itch to cut some as well!

I see something someone posts...and it gives me "the itch" to work the same material (or I end up having to buy some if I don't have it)! LOL

All beauties, but you truly saved the best for last: that Bruneau is unbeatable! It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'd go with the first Bruneau. The berber is also an eye-catcher.

Adrian Thank you Adrian! I do keep coming back to look at that last Bruneau. I'm not sure about the wrap yet...but I think whatever it's going to be like, it's going to need a single centralized bead to mimic that circular "watermark" there in the orbs... Thank you so much! That Bruneau really is SO fun to work! When a material is coming off the 280 grit wheel and is already "shining" a little bit, you know the polish is going to be fantastic!
