Hey guys!
Has anyone ever come across this in an amethyst before? I was wondering if this formation had a name. Anyway thought you guys may find this as interesting as I did! The vendor sold it to me as a "defective" Amethyst.

it may be a phantom inclusion in the crystal

That's awesome! It definitely has a triangular geometric shape to that!!
I was wondering if it was possible it's Chevron Amethyst...but nothing else about the piece says that. Whatever it is, I hope you find out. It's really wicked cool!

Very cool. I love seeing different formations in Amethyst. Like how the seller called it defective. It is amazing to me.

Then if we met, you'd find me really amazing...as my wife is constantly calling me "defective"! LOL hummingbirdstones - Thanks for that link Robin! Pretty cool website! I had to mess around with the link you posted as it came up with an error. See if this link works: www.quartzpage.de/gro_text.html#phantom

Whatever it is, I hope you find out. It's really wicked cool! I attached another picture of the piece below! Doesn't seem to look like a Chevron Amethyst. I did find out some really cool info on a discord server though.
Someone mentioned that it would be "vibrational frequency lines" which are rare in igneous rock formations; it's basically the sound of steam escaping the rock as it forms.
I'll never ceased to be amazed by the rock and mineral world!

I would say no on the Chevron Amethyst also with that picture! That is definitely one cool crystal...and I'm not usually a crystal-kinda guy! Vibrational Frequency Lines...makes sense to me! I'm with you with regards to it never ceases to amaze me!
