The hose they supply is absolute garbage, the thing was leaking and about to burst when I noticed while I was soldering! It’s only a year old or so. That's why I like my old Prest-O-Lite.
We set it up with a generic industrial welding hose fro McMaster Carr, and it's been going for years running off an acetylene tank and regulator.
I had a similar thing happen with my Smith Little Torch & had to buy a new special hose (which I still use now and then).
But my Presto-O-Lite is my main torch & I have a good variety of tips for it & it's stone axe reliable.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it

For torch hose there is R hose acetylene only hose that will do what yours did if used with propane, or T hose that works for either. Surprised the orca torch people even bother with putting the R hose on anything, but it does cost less.

Do you use propane? if you use acetylene there will be no hose problem for either type. www.thermoid.com/product-category/welding-hose/I don't think there's a way to tell unless they are labeled like the hoses above. I could tell you by cutting a thin sliver off the end and stabbing with a red hot copper wire and observing for a chlorine reaction (neoprene, type t) but I think just checking for leaks with soapy water every time you use it and for swelling hoses, as everyone should, is just fine. If you purchased new specifically for propane with the larger tips you need I'm sure they used the right hose. |

Absolutely no clue...snagged the gif off the internet (duh! LOL) with a quick search for gas explosions. The choice was between this one or a heavy-set redneck guy in overalls lighting his farts! I’m still using a little micro butane torch. My soldering area is in a small carpeted bedroom and I hesitate to upgrade. I also just don’t know anything about these bigger torches. It would be all self teaching. Scary info cause I probably would have just bought a Smith Little or Orca and trusted it and been oblivious to what to what for as far as dangers. Not sure I’ll upgrade any time soon but hopefully I remember this and do some deeper digging before I buy.

We recently got an oxygen concentrator but it isn't working all that well. I like the idea of an ORCA |

@msali. I rarely use it, but it was helpful when I did. I mainly use the mini-butane Blazer, or the bigger crème-brûlée torch.
