Hello, I'm gradually finishing my first sets of tumbled rocks. Thought I'd share some of the results! Some of these were self-collected rocks and many of them didn't turn out, but these ones seemed to polish ok: This one is a tiny tourmaline in pegmatite pebble. Its really undercut and gnarly but I still like it: Next we have some purchased rocks from the rockshed. These were my favorite quartz pieces: Moss agate that I kept tumbling and tumbling and it just kept undercutting and undercutting until I finally moved a couple of them on to see if they would polish and they did: Tiny crazy lace pebbles. The big pieces are still tumbling, and they'll probably be tumbling forever 😂: Bahia agates that I think I over-tumbled because they lost a lot of the outside pattern and now they look kind of like gnarly sushi, but I still like them: ---- Next are opals! I did a fee dig a few years ago and collected what I think might be opalized wood? Threw them in the tumbler to see what would happen: Tiny opal chips from the fee dig: And from a recent trip looking for oregon fire opal. My intention wasn't to get these all nice and rounded, I just wanted to polish up the exposed parts and see if the tiny chips would shine up, so they weren't in the various stages for too long:

Great results on a lot of those for your first tumble PR! The Moss Agate you said kept undercutting...yep...I've seen that a lot when I'm cabbing Moss Agate like that where the moss seems to keep "peeking" through the surface. I chuckled out loud on the "now they look kind of like gnarly sushi" comment! LOL

Awesome batch! You got a nice shine on them! I really like the crazy lace, fire opal, the quartz and the one with the white stripes in the first picture far right.

LOL Lol well they do look a bit like raw seafood 🍣 For both the moss agate and the bahia - I kept thinking that maybe if I tumbled it just a little bit more a new layer would break through and smooth everything out somehow. I guess its a good lesson to learn in my first tumbles, that there is such a thing as over-tumbling and that at some point you just have to move the rocks on. I was also surprised at how much stage 2 and even stage 3 took off some of the rocks, probably because some rocks were softer, and other rocks like the moss agate had areas that were of uneven hardness.

I'm not sure what the striped rock is, but it looks a bit like a chunk of wood but it may just be quartz veins in some other sort of rock. Thanks for looking!
