I think people appreciate things more when they can get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes. Plus, it's comforting to know yer getting a true one-of-a-kind work of art and not some mass produced product.
Keep on rockin', Sands! You've got quite the comfortable, laid back, homey kinda feeling shop there - Love it!

Hey Sands, Nice shop! Is that saw in the background of one pic a Lortone Panther? If so, how do you like it? I used to have the 14" lortone drop saw and got so tired of changing out that oil pan by having to lift the whole saw mechanism out of the tray. Is that the way the Panther has to be cleaned? Been thinking of getting one for my new shop but no one I know has tried one....mel

hi mel yea it is and it has to be lifted out of its tray to clean but im thikin about drilling a whole in the pan near the edge and puttin some kind of drain in it to empty right into a bucket but i havent fig what kind of drain setup to get for it i guess i could just nut and bolt with rubber washers so it dont leak --- but if ya thnk of a better way let me know i fig id just let the edge of the saw hang over the bench in the front and drill fight through the bottom of the pan this way i could use a squegee to get the mud to the hole and let it come out
ohhh yea i love the saw but i have been haveing probs with it the electric in the market needs to be amped up when the place is open the saw has been jammin up mid rock when i have a decent sized rock cuttin,, the motor is starvin for amps the lights even start blinkin and it stalls

Yeah, We have this Bookstore lady. Everytime Sands pops the circuit, the Bookstore lady Hoity-toity waddles around and looks like the cartoon character in the Pink Floyd Movie, the wall, the Judge. She is really amazing. Huffy, Stuffy, with socialist tweeds, and she always wears a stupid hat. Everyone laughs at her and she thinks they are patting her on the back. She holds her head so far backwards with her nose up I am suprised she doesn't just fall over backwards. She will waddle around complaining about Sands, and other Fleamarket People, and one day I asked her if she knew where she was. In a fleamarket! Right next door to Fleamarket People! One day, I had Enya on my tuner and she came over and asked if the woman singing was a woman or a boy. She then asked if the person came from England, or Australia. She then said, if only the person had only had some classical experience she could play music for people who matter. Oiy.

Sands: Thanks for the saw info. I'm really going to have to think some on that saw as I hated that other lortone by the time I got rid of it. That is the stupidest oil pan setup I've ever seen. Even with a drain the sludge is a big problem and I'm too friggin old to hurt my back lifting that dern unweildy rig from the pan ....mel
PS: watch out for your Genie motor if you have those power problems. I talked with the Diamond Pacific guy once about my motor catching fire and burning up and he told me that that's the main reason for engine burnout on the Genies. Apparently those motors really overheat if there's a power dip situation. I had to repalce mine a couple of years ago and it was about $330. That sucks!!!

Gads, am I ugly! Those little ladies flashed me however. Must have been the Jerry Beads I keep handy. Sands, I did not know you were taking pictures! He did good on the coral to replace the side piece. I knew he could do it. I think Sands can do just about anything he is asked to do.

What a superb outcome - to watch it all unfolding is great - all those people milling around looking at the wares. Looks good Sands and Doc

Looks like you have a great set up. I do have a question for you, if you could only have 3 grinding stones what gradation of stones would you get? I have a saw/grinder/ buffing wheel and I am trying to decide what grit grades of grinding wheels to get, I think I only have room for 3. Tami

if i had room for only three wheels id make one an expandable drum so i could have all the grits i need cause i thought about it and if you only use three grits to start and finish a cab you would have to over work each wheel from start to finish ---thats why i think the genie is one of the best machines not because of the maker or the diamond wheels ---but for the fact it has 6 grits in sequence that start at 80 and end at around 3200 so each wheel has a small job and by the end it will give you a very nice shine with out buffing the stone --( on most stones ) some i still buff up for a finishing touch---but any way i don't think i could pick just three grits

even when i used a two wheel grinder i had a 80 grit diamond wheel on the left and a 3inch expandable drum on the right ----- i used 220-400-600-and 1000 grit belts and had a leather belt for polish ---i have used less grits but when i started to get alot better finished cabs this is what i was using

WOW the Sandmans shop I am in awe! OK no down to business- THat peg board behind the saws and such- Get some pegs and toss some stuff to sell up there- You cannot sell empty space- But you sure are paying for it! Love the grinder setup- but watch all those idiots (yea customers) or when your grinding- stuff is gonna start walking- Also loved the signs- very cool touch! Now that shop across the isle from you- Watch that guy- He seems kinda funny (just kidding Doc) Also You need one of those you break it you buy it sign- (oh how does that one go---" Lovely to look at, Beautiful to behold--- but if you break it then it's SOLD!!!!" Now what happens if you wake up in the middle of the night- and get the urge to grind- DO you gotta truck on down to the fleamarket and fire up the Genie?
