Thanks so much! I haven't bought from them before. Still learning which are the go-to stores for supplies so thank you for the link!

Glad I could help. I've purchased from them in the past & they seemed fine & their prices are better sometimes. Patty

There's also a guy who sells them on eBay. The design is different than the link that was posted. Just letting you know another option. He has a large one and a small one. Here's a link to what I think is the smaller one: www.ebay.com/itm/234049754627I don't know the seller...nor am I affiliated...just posting an option.

I believe I have seen grabbers made by catmandewe Tony before too. He may have one.

the style that is on Ebay that Jason posted works very well . for anyone that has the old Ideal saw/ saws made in Kingman Az , the 20 and 24 actually have a slab grabber built into the vice

Here's my slab grabber, sold in any lumberyard. Other than the 24 delay waiting for the glue to setup, it works as well as the metal versions. Wood glue and a scrap of 2x2 or 2x4.

There are two features that sold me on on the style I bought.
The extra pivot point in the center of the upper gripping bar for oddly shaped rocks.
The two bars in back. No way for it to roll with both the top and bottom gripped by the vise.

Yes now it costs more to make the grabber parts than I was selling them for. That one on ebay looks to be a copy of my old grabbers. Tony

I do what Perauno does but use sodium silicate for slabs and Locktite adhesive for uncut rough rock. I let sodium silicate set for 24 hours and remove in soapy water. If you are splitting a very expensive material you can adhere to a rock face or block that has just been cut and totally aligned with the blade-still in the vise. Bond the new slab to this surface by using large "C" clamps or wood clamps. My saw has a side and I used hard foam and screwed the table out and compressed everything together.

I got mine from Rod Riel in Eugene, OR. 45.00 shipped. Took a bit as he was inundated with orders. www.sphereproducts.com/slabgrabber-sphereindexing.htm*not affiliated with him, site or anyone mentioned here. I heard about it from World of Rockhounds on you tube and I liked the price.
