Howdy all! I finally got around to pulling out the polishing wheel and polishing some of the backlog of cabs. These are some I was able to photograph before the sunlight started to dim. A few months back we were exploring a new river and found some surprisingly nice agates and jasper's. The miner in me wanted to determine the source. Through studying the geologic maps and some trial and error we deduced the culprit. The agate/jasper bearing area ended up being quite vast so we are still prospecting trying to find the best most productive sections. Definitely fun country to rockhound. Lots of variety, this is just what I've cabbed so far. The next few are self collected from that spot: I like how the blueish agate contrasts the mossy reds. There are some random agate nodules too: The rest are not self collected: No clue what this one is, it was in the vise of a saw I bought but weirdly it was uncut. Once I got the saw back in action I figured it was only right this would be the first cut: Unknown coral from a huge chunk I picked up at a rock sale: if anyone has any ideas please chime in. Another rocks sale random, maybe stone canyon or stoney creek? It was a seam agate and lots of healed fractures. A Montana I picked up from Tony's rock piles on our trip to Idaho. Bloodstone: Laguna lace: I cut this moss agate for the curve cab competition a few months ago and misplaced the stupid thing until after the competition closed. Figured I'd finally post it lol. Thanks for looking!

How does one "misplace" a contest entry cab? What the heck!?! LOL I really like all of these. There's some really cool material...the self-collected, as well as the procured! That Bloodstone (Fancy Jasper) really looks great...and I think your curved cab is also a standout!

Haha yeah I cut it within the first week of the cab contest but didn't bother posting it right away. Fast-forward to a couple days before the contest closed and I was searching all over for that stupid cab. Of course I found it a few days after the context closed lol, lesson learned. Yeah it was my first time working with Bloodstone and I really liked it. Nice solid material, no chipping and took a great polish.
