I want to start cabbing and I'm wondering how thick I should cut the slabs. Thanks!

Going to depend on the cab. For larger cabs or high doming I cut my slabs thicker.

1/4 inch is standard.

Realrockhound is correct with the "standard". Some people will cut certain material thinner...if it's valuable material, thinner slabs mean more cuts out of the rough. I've cabbed pieces where the slab was only 1/8" thick. It isn't fun...and the dome is nearly flat...but it CAN be done. I wouldn't cut a slab thicker than 3/8" thick...well...not purposely! LOL

There are a lot that do 1/4" but I always liked 5/16" which is 5 turns on the feed crank. Depending on the material and hardness.
