My life has been so hectic the last couple of months. I've hardly had a chance to do anything recreational. I can't believe I'm not hounding two weekends in a row! Heading over to the coast to hit some of the beaches.  On the road for about an hour. The scenery will definitely get better than this..  Made it to home camp. This is my room. It's funny because my wife thinks we're here for a 40th anniversary! This is the view from across the street from my balcony.   No gravel on this beach but they're there. Never is. We're going to hang out and chill today. Go have some amazing complimentary pie on the balcony tonight. Will hit the beaches a little bit to the north tomorrow. See if there's any rocks. |

Where are you "camped?" That pier doesn't look like the Port San Luis pier I remember at Avila. Pismo? That doesn't look quite right either. Good luck with the rocks!

gemfeller I'm at the Avila Beach inn. We're in front of the small Avila Pier. I think the pier in the picture is the universities. The San Luis commercial one is down on the far end. It's in the pic. Just tough to see.

 This was a beautiful place to sit and wrap. It's early evening so that would be Jack and Coke in the coffee cup. It turned out that it wasn't the perfect spot. The cab on the front of the table is the best looking plasma agate cab that I've created. It was quite thin and an amazing polish. I bumped it off the back of the table. It hit my toe and went off the balcony. I was on the third floor. I searched extensively down below and never found it. I even left a Note on the guy's door below us and went down and searched on his balcony. I just hope it landed somewhere where somebody finds it! |

There is a scientific approach, but you might have to sacrifice another cab, and it involves your wife.
But then she's been putting up with you for 40 years, so it should be no big deal
You need to position her strategically below your balcony, and once she's there you need to replicate your boo-boo, and bounce the sacrificial cab off your toe (better if it was bright orange or something) and have her carefully observe where it lands.
Then, if you still can't find it, you can blame HER poor powers of observation
