The Potters of Buur Heybe, Somalia
Traditional clay potters of Somalia making pottery the same way their ancestors have done for thousands of years. The women do not make any pottery but assist by mining and processing the clay that is used by the men.
"The pots are fired in open air pyres, and distributed both locally and regionally where they are used, recycled and discarded by farmers, pastoralists, and townspeople. Short, technologically fascinating, and ethnographically rich, Potters of Buur Heybe is an excellent film for both undergraduate and graduate courses in anthropology and archaeology, including methods, technology, material culture, ethnography, and arts."

I very much enjoyed this video Thanks, I've always liked open pit fired pottery and have some local (Southeastern US) pottery in my collection. Here's another video I posted earlier this year that you may not have seen. Women in an Ethiopia village that still make and use stone tools. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/99971/woman-toolmaker
