Have some Pendant stones and I want to attach some glue-on bails on. What's the best adhesive to use? E6000?, Superglue? or something else?
Thanks Henry

Well, I don't know the best, but my sister just sent me a keychain and a necklace she made through regular mail. Although it was nicely packaged, both stones arrived unglued. She used Superglue. My wife uses G-S Hypo cement in her jewelry work, but she mostly does beading, not large stones.

I use E6000 or Gorilla gel glue. Always rough the surfaces a little if they are smooth.

I've glued bails on a few times but only when requested, and I used 330 epoxy. The next time I do it I may use JB Weld (original) because of its strength.

@hankrocks We used CA glue on a bunch of earrings (small cab on a stainless studs). The night before a show we were packing and discovered when you touch them the CA lets go after 6 months. We ended up redoing with epoxy. CA glue forgets why it is there, I would not recommend except for temp jobs.

I would use the 330 epoxy too, in fact we have with no known failures, 100's of key fobs and zipper pulls.

Use epoxy 330. It's made to attach metal to the stones, so the advertisement says!

Seeing how I don't wire wrap or metalsmith all I use is glue on bails. I've used gorilla glue gel superglue with a cpl failures. But haven't had any failures using jb weld clear epoxy or gorilla glue epoxy. Not big sample size as my 13yr old daughter is only one i make stuff for. She wears my pendants regularly but has quite a few in the rotation tho. Also, I've used both of the epoxy on cabinet pulls with no issues. Here's pic of some i recently made for her bday.

I use E6000 and have never had a problem. But the most important thing is a glue that flexes. Some don't (such as Super Glue) so when the temperature changes, the rock and metal expand or contract, the glue won't hold.

Friend uses 330 epoxy. Roughens up surface of stone and silver first.

I have used regular JB weld for backing copper ore rocks, does the clear stuff turn yellow at all? Or the gorilla? I might end up with a vacuum setup tomorrow at estate auction, if so resin and epoxy experiments will be coming.

I've heard most epoxy does after time but i haven't noticed any yellowing of any epoxy I've used. But I don't use much when doing pendants so usually isn't much epoxy showing anywhere to tell for sure. Also, forgot to mention I've used 330 epoxy with zero issues as well.
