1. Regency Rose Plume Agate — 37 x 27 mm “What a lovely thing a rose is!” – Arthur Conan Doyle
2. Big Diggins Plume — 26 x 22 mm I love the patterns in this material.
3. Grossular Vesuvianite — 31 x23 mm Strange stuff that often looks like camouflage. From Whidbey Island, Washington.
4. Cathedral Agate — 29 x 22 mm Twin plume spires.
5. Lavic Siding Jasper (Banded) — 30 x 22 mm High dome.
6. Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper — 36 x 22 mm Originally cut in an ovoid shape but a crack was exposed, so it had to go on a diet.
7. Turkish Dendritic Agate — 28 x 23 mm I just love this cab. I see a Fall/Winter landscape at the top, with a distant shore and trees and clouds reflected in the "water". Surreal. Cut from a slab from roy . The white at the very bottom is opal.
8. Stromatolite Agate — 27 x 26 mm This one is a real gem!

They are all so beautiful. My favorite is the Turkish Dendritic Agate piece! Something is definitely happening in the deep water.

Not only gorgeous materials...but the cabs themselves fantastic as always! That Stromatolite Agate really stood out to me! I love that shape on that Turkish Dendritic! I've done a couple in that shape...but I should have a few more in my inventory. Great capture of the pattern of plumes on that Regency Rose...and the Cathedral is perfect with that horizontal positioning!

I had no idea that Stromatolite came in colors - OMG- how beautiful.
The shape is also nice- not round, not oval, just a little different.
I was going to say the Turkish Dendritic Agate was off the charts- but the Stromtolite did it for me.
Nice job. Patty

Beautiful cabs, Gary! Hard to pick a favorite, but the Stromatolite is stunning. I also really like the Regency Rose and the Grossular Vesuvianite.

opalpyrexia My fave is also the stromatolite. The Vesuvianite, did you find that on the beach or in the woods, such as they are, on Whidbey?

Wow! These are GREAT cabs! You opened with a stunner and closed with a winner- both my favs, but that MHPJ is pretty sweet, too. Love seeing your work.

opalpyrexia My fave is also the stromatolite. The Vesuvianite, did you find that on the beach or in the woods, such as they are, on Whidbey? Thank you. I did not. This cab was cut from a gift slab I received from the eBay seller poohbasjade. I occasionally buy from him and he lives about 20 minutes away from me. I've purchased a couple of his listings of rough grossular vesuvianite, but neither were as nice as the gift slab. I suspect that he's hanging on to the nicest material. He collects it by hounding the streams that empty onto Whidbey's shores. He didn't specify any particular area, and I'm sure that some are off limits for collecting. Here's a 4-5 lb. piece that I had started to slab. The pattern is fairly large and loose, so a little challenging to find interesting spots to cab.

opalpyrexia Thanks for the info, interesting story. I checked and I already had discovered/saved that seller but not yet purchased anything. Even that large 6” chunk is quite interesting. I used to live there, right on the beach, before I knew that if you cut open some of these beach finds you might be surprised by what you find. Such a gorgeous area. Makes me want to go beach combing. Perfect weather lately for it…

I really like the cathedral agate, very nice colors. The rest all come in second.

Beautiful! You arranged them from good to stunning: the last three ones are my favorites. The stromagate is, of course, the top, followed closely by the Turkish.
