That is common chalcedony and the purple looks like fluorite. Chert is opaque as it is a subcategory of jasper, which is a chalcedony, which is a quartz.

I found something similar here in Southern Nevada with little pockets of purple fluorite in common chalcedony.

Hardness test time.
