Trying to get some inventory and stuff ready for a show this weekend. Of course, instead of wrapping some of the numerous cabs I have, I'm out cutting new ones! I got some new slabs the other day and was anxious to try the material. I've been attracted to Kabamba Jasper for a while and if wanted to try some. I wasn't planning on making this a flat top when I started but I grabbed the first 45 around the edge to establish the apron and it looks so perfect that could resist trying. I like cutting out.

The head on shot looks like the side is matt & the top polished.
Although I'm sure they both are polished.
An interesting idea- thank you. Nicely done

Thanks, I appreciate that Roy. That’s very nice. Great work Thanks, I enjoyed working with this material. Not spectacular stuff but I've been drawn to those green swirly patterns. Beautifully cut cab and equally beautiful wrap- prongs are just right.
GOOD LUCK at your show!
Thanks Tela, Hopefully the rain holds off. Elegant my friend!! The prongs are spot on...especially great job on those!! Thanks Jason, I'm pretty happy with how the prongs came out especially considering how wonky the other attempts were. The head on shot looks like the side is matt & the top polished.

Thanks Patty, It's entire front is polished but that's an interesting idea. I might have to try it. wow, very nice rockbrain , should be a great show. Thanks. It was supposed to be on Saturday and I've been looking at the weather all week with a 75-80% chance of rain. They moved the show to Sunday so hopefully that all works out. I thought flat-tops were normal when I was taking my beginner lapidary class. I was trying to make a flat top rectangle and the instructor kept giving me weird looks telling me to round it completely and I was like wait what? How do I round a square? (he showed me how) but I guess some people frown upon flat tops. That's funny Hefty. I think a flat top is harder to pull off then a dome, but to each his own.

In fairness to your past instructor @hefty, this may not technically be a cabochon. A cabochon is defined as a non faceted stone. I guess technically this is faceted with 2 sides.
Either way, this one sold before the show after a new neighbor came over to see our koi pond.

I like the look! I think that, for some prospective buyers, your cut and setting tends to elevate your Kabamba to a gemstone class. I like your bail decoration, too.

I really like the flat tops, and the graduated flats as well. There's room in this world for more than the usual! You've done a great job throughout.
