A friend is looking to have some guitar tuning heads made. Does anyone here do that? His current ones are pictured below. Red Jasper. Depending on cost he might be interested in some for multiple guitars. He would provide detailed specs.

This is a brilliant idea and I was all excited to make some. It won't be quite as easy as I thought. Most of these are attached to the button shaft with a screw that shows from the outside. (screwheads would be pointing down in the pic above) So I couldn't understand why the ones in the pic looked like one side was metal. It's not just a hole through. There are two flat sides that engage the flat sides of the shaft. I just pulled 2 buttons (that's the part Beth's friend is looking for) One form an older Japanese guitar and one from an older US guitar and they were different. So there's going to be different screw sizes and different button shaft sizes. I'll look at some other tuners later when I have time. I'm thinking on the ones shown they probably split the buttons and put the rock on one side. Drill a round hole through the stone and you still have 1/2 of the 2 flats engaging the shaft in the metal part. I'm going to give it a go but I'm going to try to make them solid stone.

Just went through this same exercise here. I'd be curious to examine the original Jasper pegs. Look forward to seeing what you might make.

Volume and tone knobs would be cool too.
