Hello all, I've been a lurker on the forum for a while, but finally joined. I recently bought a used old Texas Rock's brand Cabmaker (their Compact Cabmaker) and was wondering if anyone on the forums knows where I can find either a manual or schematics for it. Its got a slight wabble in the spindle that I'll need to fix at some point (not sure if its slightly warped or if a bearing is either going bad or not seated properly). The thing is built like a tank, and it appears the entire enclosure is welded. Given the age, I know I'll eventually need to replace a wheel, and was hoping to find a manual so I'm not experimenting on taking it apart and putting it back together when that day comes. I'm also trying to find a replacement for the polisher end. Its got what they called a 2in1 Polisher, which appears to be leather stretched over cork and open backing. I don't know what grit polishing powders the prior owner used, so I'm a bit worried about trying to apply new compound to use it to polish cabs and flats as I start playing around. I've found sanding paper rolls that Covington carries that appear to be the right size for the 3 lock level wheels the machine has, but I haven't been able to find a comparable polishing end. Worst case, I'm willing to remove the end and replace it with a more standard polishing end, but I figured I'd see if anyone here has ideas before I do that. I'd love to be able to use it the way it was made before I start modifying it.

I can't help out with the cabber...but I did want to say welcome to the forum! There's a bunch of knowledgeable members on the forum, so I bet you'll get some input sooner or later!

Cool vintage machine! Sorry I also know nothing about it. Looking forward to seeing you get it up and running! Welcome!

Definitely a cool machine. Wiggly shafts are usually a combination of a bad sloppy bearing and a flat spot on an old belt. Texas Rocks became Polaris, but I think they're gone now as well.
