Great looking cabs brother! That mookaite takes a wicked polish! Thanks Brother! I've had a couple other slabs of Mookaite that I've had forever...but every time I pulled them out to work them, I didn't like the looks of the slabs. The other slabs I had just looked like a couple melted crayons that blobbed together! LOL My wife keeps drooling over that Nellite piece by the way! Really digging everything about this one Jason
Thanks Chad!! Yeah...that slab had some nice pattern to it. I have one more small circle waiting to be done.

Dang. I'm beginning to hate your ability to crank out these amazing cabs like they're nothing.

Dang. I'm beginning to hate your ability to crank out these amazing cabs like they're nothing. Thanks Robin! Now that I look back on these...there's not one dang teardrop shape! LOL I started doing something differently on the 80 grit wheel which is making the initial grind a lot faster. I used to keep things kind of on a vertical plane when doing the first 45 degree cut - so I could keep everything VERY precise. This too forever, because the point of contact with the wheel was very minimal. Now, I work diagonally on the wheel in a back and forth kinda circular motion. This knocks off material VERY quickly - even on a well-worn wheel like I have, because there's more of the stone contacting the wheel at once. When I get close to taking off as much material as I want, THEN I go to the more vertical plane, which completely smooths every little "divots" that may have been created doing the back and forth circular motion. That probably doesn't make any sense. I started thinking of the initial grind as being similar to a sculptor knocking away the big pieces to get down to the nitty-gritty. Then using the 220 to "smooth" out the sculpture.... Whether that makes sense or not...it seems to be working for me! LOL

That Nellite is pretty badass. Can see why she would. Wait until you see that one I sent you in person. Pictures don't do any of these justice! I think the one I wrapped for you had more of the gold "webbing" going through it...so I think it has more "depth" than this one.

LOL After I cabbed that first one, I started searching for Nellite rough! Even though I've got two and a half slabs left of what you sent me!

8 and 9 all the way!
I missed my chance to get Gene out yesterday. It was about 70 degrees! But, my bro came over for a visit and I didn't want to throw him out. Your cabs make me wish I did!!

Nice batch of cabs, love the variety. Thanks my friend! Definitely nothing as flashy as an opal...but that Pietersite cab does have a nice chatoyant area on it! Wow! Another highly productive week. Pic 9 is my favorite. Thanks PS! I wish I could have gotten pictures of the Reyes Agate pieces. I probably took 15-20 photos of those and cannot for the life of me get the pics to come out right. In person, those really are fantastic. (Not trying to change your mind...just throwin' that out there! LOL) 8 and 9 all the way!

Thank you Tela! You know, I really need to start wrapping more of these odd shapes. It's definitely more of a challenge than a teardrop! LOL 70 degrees!! Sheesh! I think we had a high of 11 the other day! LOL - I'm super glad you were able to visit with your brother...even though he cost you some grinding time!

Looks like a very productive week ! I especially like that you numbered the pictures & numbered the ID's.
With so many at once, you always make it look fast & easy But at least you said it was a week's work, not a days. The Texas river cobble is my fav.

Thanks Patty! It was actually two mornings worth of work... LOL Finally someone went for #1 being a favorite! LOL - Even though the moss peeked through in a couple tiny spots, the overall look of this one really catches my eye!

I have a hunch this gnarly bunch won't pack the same punch as the Malachite done after lunch!
