Way to go Johnny! You've definitely been busy! I've been considering doing a ring...but none of my cabs are small enough! LOL

You have been busy! These look great, and several really nice opals. On the 2nd pic banded agate I like the way you did the front wires with a bend in and then right away another prong style bend.👍 Ya I can’t imagine trying a ring. Is there a hole drilled through that stone?

Well, I'll 3rd that- You've been busy. I like what you're doing! Lots of different techniques. Really awesome!
What kind of wire did you use? You caught a lot of tool marks. It may just be that the wire is too hard.

I love the experimentation with different ideas and types of "wraps." I particularly like #2; it almost looks like it's floating there, which is perfect for those colors.

I've been battling tool marks rockjunquie I'm using 925 hh. jasoninsd thanks I'm going at it! susand24224 I just sit down and wing it. I've never followed a pattern I look at other wraps and I just let the brain do it. Sometimes a wire breaks or something and I gotta improvise but it's all kinds improvised anyway.

HH .925 can get pretty hard very quickly when you are working it. Sand down all the edges on your pliers. That will help. An emery board should do it. You want them smooth.

I haven’t heard of that before but I am seeing some marks on the wires as I go.

I haven’t heard of that before but I am seeing some marks on the wires as I go. I do it to all my wire wrapping pliers. It absolutely helps. Also, experience helps. As you get more comfortable with the wire and pliers, you will loosen up that death grip that inevitably causes tool marks.

I have noticed that some manufacturers put a rough finish on their pliers to help gripping the wires. I hate them. They leave marks. I avoid them and sand them smooth if I have to have them. Maybe some people like it, but I don't.

I like your designs — especially your opal ring! It looks like an opal egg in a stylized bird's nest.

Is there a hole drilled through that stone? My apologies for missing your post. There is no whole in the ring no slot or anything. This is a fun recipe I followed I can share with you all it's really not too hard. In the process of making the band and securing the size you create a ring seating and the stone is pinched into place and than over wires on the girdle further secure it. Hope this helps if you'd like the pictures of the book I'll get on that soon.Johnny aGates.
