Well it's that time of year, turned the heat in the garage off last week and set it to cold. It's nice to get heat in the Summer and cooling in the Winter all without costing me a penny's worth of electricity!!. Had several inside garage temps of 95+last July and August. Expecting lows in the this week near or below 20 degrees, so the garage will be in the mid 30's. No hill for a stepper!! One good thing about this time of year is that I can run the saws as frequently as I like with the ambient temps being 30 or 40 degrees lower than during the Summer!! The only character builder experience I do not look forward to is washing out tumbler batches in the driveway with cold water and the wind blowing

LOL! Sorry, though. Cold is creeping in here, too.

Henry, I have a hose to hook to my laundry room tub faucet so I can use my rock washing station in the winter, dress warm and enjoy some water at your desired temperature, if you have provision for it.

I bought a mini--split (e.g. motel room heat pump) for my shop this year. The unit was less than a thousand and an installation was not too bad. Boy is it nice to have heat or cool relatively quickly. I don't keep it on except when Im in the shop, but it brings things up quickly. I still have to use the electric kettle for heating the cab machine water to a warm enough temperature for cabbing. At least it give me 12 month access to the shop like you have.

We put a mini-split in when we added a 500 sq/ft game room to the house at the recommendation of the A/C guy as opposed to tying into our existing A/C system. It works great and cools and heats the room fairly quickly. Problem in my shop(detached 3 car garage with no room for a car!!) is that there is no insulation unless you count flats of rocks lining the walls!! In reality we just do not get that many unbearable cold days here to deal with. Being a native Houston boy Summer heat and humidity does not really faze me, must be the set of gills!!
