I need some advice on choosing a saw blade to cut rough stone and slab material for cabs. I usually try to cut agate and quartz. My personal finances dictate that I use a Skil tile saw. I have been using a Skil 7" blade as well as a 7" blade from Harbor Freight. Both cut good but don't last very long. I've noticed that both Rock Shed and Kingsley North have 6" blades with the 5/8" arbor. Those lose about a 1/2" on cutting height, which is not a problem.
Is there an advantage to using one of these blades rather than the blades of 7" dia. and sold by Harbor Freight? The price for the tile saw blade is usually around $20.00 each. I see where Kingsley North has segmented 6" blades at even lesser cost and some continuous rim blades around the $25.00 to $35.00 range.
If you have had experience with a tile saw for our hobby and have a suggestion for blades, please let me know.
Thanks for your help,
Jim

Hey Jim,
I have a 7" wet tile saw on which I use a couple blades. The first one I use is a DeWalt XP4 7". I got mine of eBay for $17. I like this one for shaping my preforms. I use the edge of the blade to grind them down.
The other blade I use is also off eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/124096552353) for $23. I like this one as the blade is thinner than than the XP4 (less material loss) and I think it cuts through slabs a lot cleaner than the XP4 (less chipping).
It's quick and easy to switch the blades out...and I think they can last quite awhile.
That might give you a couple more options...
Oh...and I could be wrong, but I think the blades at Harbor Freight are not designed for rocks per se...but more designed for tiles.

The MK Hotdog blade is made for tile saws cutting stone, they sell it to lapidarists as the agate eater, same blade. They may have it in a 7" blade.

MK305 blade is designed for stone cutting in faster rpm saws like tile saws and also for cutting in water. Prices vary pretty wildly from place to place so shop around and you can usually find it for a better price.

I've been really impressed with how well THIS cheap blade cuts.

Link worked for me. Amazon GoYonder 7 Tile saw blade. I have one and it works well. Not as long lasting as the MK Hotdog blade, but also like 1/3 the price.
