Sooo I guess I crossed over into a hybrid of crazy mineral fanatic and crazy cat lady... I'm fine with that. I'll own it. Here is my fur baby crew!
1) Sage - My blind siamese. She's a rescue, someone didn't want her anymore due to blindness.
2) Dean (yeah yeah I know, I love supernatural lol) - In fact, this little brat will always try to steal a bite of pastry if we bake something fresh. And yes he's always snuggling with my blind girl. We got Dean when our ex-next door neighbour decided he didn't want kittens... To the point of running over 1 of the litter with his lawn mower and threatening to throw the rest in a garbage bag. We got him a few days after he was born. And no regrets... we kept the entire litter hahaha
3) Mado - Dean's litter sister... she's... special... miss independent
4) FLUFFFFFY - I don't know if this is a cat or a squirrel. Anyway she responds to Fluffy. Again another rescue. Full sister to my main boy!
5) Sammy - My BIG cat. Big baby. Never had such a relaxed cat, a bomb could explode and he'd probably lazily ignore it. However, no screen door can resist him... He broke through our screen door twice, why? To bring me back a chipmunk (and he succeeded every time). The second time he caught one he dropped it in the house... only to catch it again within seconds, after knocking over two kitchen table chairs, and bring it over to me still alive... I attempted to grab him so he could go drop it outside... he simply snapped it's neck and dropped it at my feet while purring before I could even get close enough... while a touching gift... I'm still traumatized.

I'm not usually a cat person...I'm more of a dog person. However, since my dog acts like a dang cat, I guess I'm slowly turning to the "other side"! LOL I loved the write-ups about each of your babies!

LOL I loved the write-ups about each of your babies! Looool yesss to be fair Sam does fetch me things like a puppers (1 dead bat he found by somehow getting into the attic when we first moved in, 2 chipmunks, his little play toys)... he's also the only cat to get along well with dogs! I use the term dog(s) loosely as he's only ever met one, my brother's... But as soon as she arrives both normally either sit against each other by the door or are laying against each other looking outside. I'll add a pic of them below... (And yes the pillow in the corner is my cat's sitting pillow... I swear they're not spoiled rotten...)

Thanks for being such a great caretaker and lover of these little critters. I do believe they need our help otherwise they’d be street kitties. My husband says I’m not allowed to save all the animals 😕 so I’m glad there are people like you giving some good homes. I know the benefit goes both ways and it’s obvious you are enjoying having them in your life as well. They really are unique little personalities and so rewarding to get to know. We tend to take in “special” cases, ones who didn’t do well elsewhere, mostly because they are scared, obviously previously traumatized. It is so neat to see them come out of their shell over the years. And it does take years. Patience, watching their signals, being reliable and predictable and kind, and just giving them room and time, a lot of time, to trust. Our last two became completely different cats with us. In a compassionate environment they really do open up and share their full personality. People who say they aren’t cat people I think seriously just have never experienced this, they think cats are aloof. They really aren’t. Our cat is as social with us as any dog, and smarter than most! 🤣🐾💛

Our cat is as social with us as any dog, and smarter than most! 🤣🐾💛 I couldn't agree more. I enjoy taking in "special" cases but I have to admit, most of the time they find me! Every time we've moved (I come from a military family so we moved every couple of years) we always ended up with a new pregnant cat deciding our balcony was suitable, stray cat deciding our house was welcoming enough or a someone giving us a cat before they were taken to a shelter. These cats became so much more then just pets over time. Each and every single one has their own personality and are unique, every living creature is, and they always shine in their own way!
I've worked with many animals over the years, cats, horses, ect. I used to train "problem" horses and rehabilitate them; if I've learned one lesson from them; animals will always end up returning what you give them. Show them love, respect, and patience, they will return it, maybe not right away but they will once they feel comfortable. (Got plenty of examples to back that one up for all the horses I've worked with!)

What a wonderful human you are.. We are cat people. (Our yard is too small to have the big dog that I want.) We have a rescued kitten from our yard. Mom had her in our shed. We raised her from a baby. She's got TONS of personality. We call her Sid after Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols. She used to be more aggressive. She has mellowed out a lot, but growls as much as she purrs. She talks back, too. Very vocal. We lost Cat a few years ago. He was a stray who adopted us. I LOVED that cat. He was more like a dog and smart as hell. I still miss him. Sid

Disclaimer. I did not due the background editing, but did take original photo with the cat and socks. Meet Poe. His full name is Poecifer. Combo if Lucifer and Edgar Allen Poe. My son in law found him near a trailer court while doing engineering/survey work. Local humane society told him just to take the cat home, as they were killing all cats that came in after the required hold time. They were out of room for cats. My SIL is a cat lover. My daughter is almost as much of a rescue cat fanatic. Poe has been with them for about 9 months and is calming down a little. they have spent ,lots of time with him. Their other 3 rescue cats are helping with Poe. AJ, who is 3.5 years old is now old enough to not be afraid of Poe, but try to help him obey the rules. Their other rescue cats are much older than Poe.

We had a similar experience with a human society here as well. I remember when I was younger I went to a "shelter" to look at cats with my parents. There was a lady at the counter with a cardboard box and the "shelter" worker told her they weren't accepting new pets or they were to be put down (lack of space). It ended up being a small calico kitten; so small she still needed to be bottle fed. The "shelter" claimed they didn't have the space or time to look after it... Well we did! And that calico became our first cat; Patte de Velour. (Velvet paws in english) Because despite being a whole bunch of colors she had white paws! (and she was puffy as a cotton ball) Hahaha we joked that this cat started our rescue cat addiction. She passed away from old age, but at least she had a long happy life!

My rescue dog was to be put down the day after we adopted her. the shelter agreed to let us take her home on a trial basis. they "knew" she would be back within a week and they would kill her. 12+ years later and she is my best friend.
I have a soft spot in my heart for calico cats. A friend of mine has a rare male calico.
