Thanks Tela! Oh...and I'm slowly...VERY slowly getting material into the box for you. I haven't forgotten...just trying to get enough "interesting" stuff to send. Anyway, I put a piece of this Fordite in the box. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it when you work it... Well, I like surprises, so bring it on! LOL!

jasoninsd If you get a chance to cut the stuff from the Jeep factory you won't be disappointed. Grind to 1200, hit with Zam and it looks like a showroom paint job. This stuff was the hands down best seller of 2022. On the other hand...the stuff from Cadillac Ranch was a huge failure!

This stuff was the hands down best seller of 2022. On the other hand...the stuff from Cadillac Ranch was a huge failure! Huge Thank You Bill! That's good to know. The eBay listing described this as: "Fordite Mopar/Ford/Jeep Half Finished Lot 4.7lbs...." The seller is out of Romulus, MI. Before I bid on the auction, I looked up what plants there are in Romulus. There's a Ford plant there...but I didn't see Jeep...so I'm thinking this is the "new" Fordite...not Jeepite! LOL I'll be keeping an eye out for the stuff from Jeep. I'm positive I've seen some listings for it. It's not that this stuff is bad...but...there's "separation" between the paint layers. And no matter what I tried, I couldn't avoid that "dip" between the layers. I worked this stuff on the 1200 mainly...

Drop dead gorgeous cabs, Jason! Especially that first Rhodo and the Montana! I have always polished Rhodo on my leather w/cerium. The Fordite is soft like paint, because that's what it is. The original stuff and the new stuff. Layers of car paint. Thanks Robin! I knew someone was going to say that about the Fordite! LOL - However, I think the "type" of paint, and the way it was baked back in the day, was completely different than how it is today. I'm positive I read that somewhere along the way when I was reading up on Fordite... One of these days I hope to get my hands on some "original" Fordite...as I'm really curious to feel how differently they work...if at all. It may just be that the old stuff sat on the walls of the paint bays for years and years and was able to dry and harden really good. Of course, I'm sure back when they were also using a different car paint with all kinds of bad stuff in it that has been banned from use now.

That really narrows it down!! Seriously, thank you VERY much!!

Gorgeous as usual! The Rhodochrosite cabs are so pleasant to look at. The Montana is mythical. The Butterfly Wing seems to be a tricky material but you pulled it off very well. The Texas River Cobble are never boring to look at. What should I say about the Noreena Jasper? AAAAAAA

I got very lucky on that Butterfly Wing Jasper...in the sense the slabs weren't full of fractures! I cut another nodule several weeks ago and the slabs basically fell apart as I was cutting them. Fracture Central on that one! The one these cabs came out of was really nice...and talk about hard/dense material!! Sheesh! LOL Great looking batch of cabs, what’s the size of the Montana agate? Thank you my friend! The top measures 31mm, the bottom is 41mm, and height in the middle is 24mm...all plus or minus a frog hair!

Nice cabs! For the Noreena, did you remember to take it out for a nice dinner first..? It does have a bit of a pink tint to it so maybe it's embarrassed? Alright let me see if I have some extra. We'll figure this out. Might be a bit though. Thanks Alex! Dangit! I knew I should've wined and dined that dang thing! LOL No way...I don't want to take any of yours. We know that stuff shines! One of these days I'll get some of the "good stuff"! I might be thinking I have more skills than I do...but I feel if I can see the rough in person, I might be able to tell whether it'll take a shine. If there's any "smooth" spot on the rough, I think I could feel it and tell if there's a chance it'll take a shine. Again...I may be WAY off with that thinking! LOL Beautiful jasoninsd ! I like the Montana agate the best. I'm interested to see the difference between the new fordite and the original. I got an older optivisor from one of the club members, so maybe I'll be able to start catching up to your skill level. Do you still polish with the cerium pads that came with your machine? Thanks for continuing to post your cabs, they're eye candy! Thanks Perk! You and I both on the original versus new Fordite!! Seriously, good for you on getting an Optivisor!! I'm tellin' ya, it'll make a world of difference!! You're probably even with my skill level already...I just take better pictures! It totally depends on the material whether I polish with the cerium. Most materials I will. However, like those Cobbles, I only took to 14k diamond paste on the polishing canvas disk. Reason being, the moss is peeking through in a couple spots. If I had worked them on the cerium pad, the cerium would've stuck into those micro-pits. I've had that happen, and no matter what method I try, I can't get it out. The cabs shined great off the 14k, so I didn't feel I needed to take a chance with the cerium in this case. I'll let you know if I find any and maybe send you a bit. The optivisor should help me a little, so maybe I'll crank up production. I finally got a new phone that'll take way better pictures so I should be a little better. I've seen what you mean about the moss, I've gotten a little paste in the rougher spots in the past. Thanks for the polishing info. I might have to try cerium. I have a slightly larger budget so it shouldn't be a problem.
