Thought I would share a rock I cut/cabbed today. This agate came in an order of Botswana agates I got from the Gem Shop, so I'm not sure if it was a mix up or if it really is a Botswana agate that looks like a moss agate. Either way I think it looks very Christmasy. I tried to be light but it still ended up undercutting like crazy, but I still like the way it turned out. DSC05976 DSC05977

Gorgeous!! My guess is it's an Agua Nueva Agate that got mixed in. In my opinion, it wouldn't have mattered how light of a touch you had with that, the moss is a problem. Sometimes the moss just isn't "solid" enough. If I zoom in on the pic, it's not looking like it's undercut...the moss is actually pitting...so in my experience, there's nothing to do but accept it. I will repeat...it's gorgeous!

Interesting colors & textures going on - I like it.
The moss piercing the surface is funky, in a good sort of way.
And the red looks like it's lit up.
Cool stone,
Patty

I'm glad it wasn't just not having a light touch that caused the pitting too. Its atually not too bad in person, but those macro shots really reveal all the details š

Thanks! I thought the red was a really nice pop. I was really surprised when I cut it open (was expecting something totally different š )

penguinrocksBeautiful cab! Iāve found a few mossy Bots in material from TRS before. Same issues for me. The green mossy parts are attractive but pitted. I havenāt tried cabbing any but itās an issue in tumblers too.

This one pitted even more but I like the larger pink nodule in this one. DSC06002

Those colors and the characteristic of the moss screams Agua Nueva to me. That shape and composition of the pattern for this one was fan-freakin-tastic!!
