Received my Rebel 17 high-speed version yesterday. I bought it from stainlesstumblingmedia since they have a 10% off coupon which offset the shipping. Did a test run with an empty drum and everything seems to work fine. Filled a bit of everything that are hard and have been tested on my Lortone 3A last year, with the biggest ones at 2'' and a lot of small fillers. I filled it to maybe 70% full, but with the all smalls filling the gaps it is really packed. Since there is a heavy storm forecast in the area with potential flooding, I decided to wait until the storm is over. I had been debating between a low-speed and high-speed model for a while. Decided to pull the trigger on a high-speed one because I am only using rotary for step 1 grinding, and if there are some rocks that need extra gentleness I still have my Lortone 3A. I checked with the recipes for big tumblers, and am still not sure how much 60/90 I should put. For those who run Rebel 17, what would your recommendation be?

I think you can follow the Model B recipe which is something like a cup? I run my Model B with 1/2 a cup and sometimes have grit left over after 2 weeks. I produce on average 2 to 3 lbs of roughed rock every 2 weeks (ready to move to 120/220) It takes me 8 3lb barrels to keep up.

I have a low speed rebel 17. I run mine with 1 cup of 46/70 for 7 days and I rarely have any grit left in it.

It seens from different guides, some suggested one tablespoon 60/90 per pound of rock, others suggested two tablespoons. I will start from 1 tablespoon to see how it works. Are your 8 3lb barrel for the later steps all the way through polishing? That sounds like a tumbler's dream highly streamlined solution.
