Hi, Everyone. I haven't been on here in the longest time, but you've always been so helpful.
I manufacture a plastic product that I tumble dry in vibratory Raytechs.
I have a need for white Silicon Carbide Tumbling grit, in the approx grit range of 220-320, somewhere in there. I don't need more than 10-15 pounds.
Any online source or suggestion would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
Scott

Greetings you can get white Aluminum Oxide from 2 - 200,000 (0.125um Micron) grit, I have never seen Silicon Carbide in white, but in Red, Green, metalic grey or black. 100,000 = 0.25um Rapid Polish #61 (Aluminum Oxide Polish). Best guess would be Rock Shed (SD) or Kingsley North (MI), but it depends where in the world you are Based. RTH Forums own Lapidary Vendors Worldwide.

Not that white SiC grit doesn't exist *somewhere,* but I've only seen aluminum oxide in white. You might want to reach out to Abrasive Armory to see if they can help. That vendor seems to have one of the widest variety of grits that I've seen. If nothing more, perhaps you'll be able to learn if such a product exists. And, if you end up wanting to buy from them, don't sweat it. I've used them a number of times without issue.

I'm so swamped for time, and this would go much faster than emailing back and forth. Thank You, RRR

I did find one place and am waiting for a call back. White aluminum oxide works great EXCEPT, because I must tumble dry, this process takes one to two weeks. I'm looking for some grit with more "cut" in it, but it has to be white because my workpiece is white and a black tumbling grit embeds into the material. This is maddening. I'll post the info in this thread once I know more. Thanks Again, Scott

They deal fairly exclusively on Ebay, but I did find a possible phone number on Manta.com. Could be the owner's phone, if not the business. (360) 356-1639

General question on Silicon Carbide. Can I get it, do you think, in a kind of light grey color? This might work for my application. The dark AL-OX I've used is coal black. Confusingly, I've seen a lot of different shades of SC. Just wondering,
Thanks Again, Everyone,
RRR

If you reach them tomorrow, maybe the guy will be able to talk to you about options for you.

This guy here’s probably shopped as much grit as anyone on the board and might know of it . . . jamesp Yo, James! Green is the only lighter color of SiC I know of. It is supposed to last 20 to 30% longer but cost may be a problem in trade. Search "green silicon carbide". closer look, appears near clear, may not stain at all.
