I inherited a Grizzly flex shaft grinder from a family friend and have yet to use it. How does it compare with a Foredom tool? Will the drill press for the Foredom fit the grizzly..etc, etc. I'm really amazed at the depth of this rabbit hole I'm tumbling through. LOL

I've never heard of a Grizzly flex shaft. Photo?

Looks like a standard Chinese made flex shaft with a hand piece to fit standard small mandrels.
1/8" & 3/32" So not a barn burner, but it should work fine.
My suggestion if using water with bit, make sure you keep the hand piece oiled /wd40 etc

My bad, it is a g9928. That is the correct link. I was wondering if a Fordom handpiece could replace the Grizzly handpiece..

I don't see why not, but assuming it's a standard 30 hand piece on it, I'm not sure why you would spend the $. I have an inexpensive Chinese made flex shaft similar (mine's a no name) and more than 10 years later & it & the hand piece are still going strong.
Any larger Foredom hand piece that is made for larger bits with a collet system has a different shaft it links onto, so wouldn't fit yours.
So if you were to change out the hand piece on your Grizzly you'd have to stick with the smaller size 30 as well.

liveoak. Just some ideas rattling around in my head. The foredom drill press that fits the foredom handpiece is one of them. Don't even know what I don't know yet. Seen folks use the Foredom drill press online and it looks quite impressive for drilling very small holes in small stones accurately.

I would think the grizzly hand piece would fit one of those Foredom drill presses - so you should be fine as is. OTOH a dedicated drill press with a slow speed would be better for drilling rocks, IMHO.

Looks like the handpiece is a #30 knock off for sure, should fit a drill press. There was one at an estate I passed by yesterday, but it was a cheap chinese one with parts missing so I left it. I did grab the little bag of diamond bits and the sterling findings that were pretty much the only other thing left to find.

I know this is an older thread, but if anyone is considering one of these Harbor Freight has the exact same one for $45. Catch a 20% off coupon it's pretty tough to beat.l
