So I cut & ground an amazonite cab, only to find that it had a natural fracture in the stone that jumped out at me.
So I came up with a tutorial that hid part of the stone, and you can't see the fracture anymore. OTOH, I found the tutorial didn't hold the stone tight enough for my taste and actually had to completely redo it (3 times). I kept telling myself it was good practice & the only way to learn what worked was to try it.
But let me tell you after 3 times I've had enough of that stupid amazonite ! Fortunately, in the end I think it came out OK.
The back is a little busy, but serviceable, and I like the look of the front. Thanks for looking,
Patty

I love amazonite and your wrap does it justice. I like the wires on the front, which is odd for me, but I do like it.
I wouldn't get too hung up on the back. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it is neat- and yours is- and there's no hanging wires, it's a win.

Amazonite--beautiful, but what a pain! I'm really impressed with your multitude of adjustments you made to make it perfect. Two thumbs up for both the end product (it's lovely) and the process you created to get there.

Good job! I've seen that tutorial. I think the Amazonite was a good choice for this type of wrap as there's really nothing in any kind of pattern to conflict with those crossing wires on the front.

It was a pain to re-do it.
The first time as I said, the stone just was too sloppy & the second time I really screwed up the back. I don't know that I'd say, the third was a charm - but it's done , and I'm happy to move onto something else.
Thanks for the nice comments.

I should have remembered to take a photo of the cab by itself, as the fracture was so visible. So yes, those front wires helped in a couple of ways.
And I actually like the way the front looks, it's interesting.
Thanks for looking,

Good job, Patty! I like it. The Amazonite is such a beautiful color, it would have been a shame not to use it because of a fracture. You solved that problem real good.

Thank you Robin hummingbirdstones. I have to agree- the amazonite is pretty cool stuff. I haven't researched it & I need to, if it's prone to fractures like that. I actually cabbed 2 and discarded the first for the fractures & then figured the second one just had to be used somehow. I was glad it worked out. Thanks for looking. Patty
