I got a late Christmas present. DH didn't know I wanted it until after Christmas. He got me Hans Gamma's latest book. worldofjaspers.com/index.html Rock Treasure of Oregon. If you aren't familiar with his books, they are coffee table art books... and more. They are gorgeous! I love looking through them. I learn something new every time. His new book spends a lot of time on Morrisonite, Obsidians- including many fantastic pictures of fire obsidian, Blue Mountain Jasper and many other outstanding rocks. It even included Tommy 's favorite- Starry Night Jasper. In fact, it had quite a few jaspers which I think will be great for ID- like his others books. He does have interesting, quick write ups about each area. And, little bios for the people whose collections are highlighted. So, it's not ALL pictures. The book itself is expensively produced and high quality although they are soft bound- which I don't mind. The cover is striking with matte and glossy contrast. The pages are all black for great contrast with the stone images. The pages are very thick.
I didn't pay extra, but each of my books is signed.
If books are your thing, I highly recommend any of Hans's books. I think this last one might be his best. His books are the foundation of my rock book collection.

I think you nailed by describing it as "art"...because every single picture is a true works of art as are the rocks!

Post every picture in this thread so I don’t have to buy the book 😂 It would break RTH if I uploaded that many images, besides he deserves the money. I'm glad someone is documenting this stuff.

I've only seen that one in his book, so that would be cool to see Fun fact. That material was mined/collected off of Veazie creek on the keystone ranch, east of the Ochoco reservoir (batcave location) between the prineville reservoir about 5 miles adjacent from Eagle rock as the crow flies. All on private land now. www.ranchflip.com/ranch/216868
