The first two cabs are Gary Green. It's the first time trying these new shapes for me...so the Gary Green was the sacrificial material! LOL - I really like the first one for sure...I'm unsure about the second one. They were fun to do as there were some super tight directional changes required when doming these! |

I like the shape of the first cab, too. Second one, not so much. I'm not sure why, but I kind of cringed when I saw it. Maybe it's the black Frankenstein looking suture dendrite. LOL!
LOVE the Sagenite cab! The Polka Dot backing looks great with the golden sagenite.

Gary Green as practice material. 🤦♀️<—- That’s a face palm for anyone not on their phone. The 2nd one is unusual. I think it could actually be kind of striking with the right wrap. I’m imagining something leaning heavier, with extra weaving. I think it’d appeal to someone wanting a real statement piece.

I might mess around with the shape and see about tweaking it here and there and alter it A LOT! LOL Yeah...that first one is for sure a keeper shape! So...I'm glad you wandered in here on your own! LOL Yeah...I just really don't think I'm liking that second one. I think I might try to "fatten" it up a little and shorten it up a bit to see if that'll work. I like all the directional changes on the cab...but something's just off about it. I thought someone might say something about the Gary Green being "practice material"! LOL |

I've never worked it...but LOVE the dark red tones in it! I've been staring at those slabs on my table and have considered using them as a backing for a future plume doublet... |

The new skill looks like it's coming along great. Nice job on the doublet. I like the first one a lot too. That second one had to be really interesting to dome.

I actually like that Frankenstein cab. Weird cut, but the Frankenstein look makes it cool. Pull that out again in an October contest and you got a winner

I think I should have just said that second one has a "great personality"! LOL - Yeah...it was actually wicked fun to dome. I felt like Muhammad Ali on the wheels...bobbing and weaving! Thanks for thinking to tag me. I WAS surprised to see the white polka dot doublet backing so soon. Did you actually do that after our other convo or was it already in the works?
I’m happy to say I’m getting a little faster with the cabs. Starting to figure out my order of operations and how to maneuver the dop. Just gotta keep doing more!

Of course I thought of you...I have a memory like a steel trap!! (Quite rusty most days...but steel nonetheless! LOL) That was already in the works. The dang thing came off dop three times...so I had to wait for it to be ready...again...and again! LOL - I've got two more cabs I'm working on that have also come off dop two and three times. The problem is the amount of grinding I'm doing on them...more the case the excessive pressure I'm putting on the dop versus the back of the cab. I'm trying to remove a lot of material off these other two...like I did with the Sagenite Agate...and I'm trying to push it and they're just popping off dop. One of the mistakes I made early on...and still do every once in awhile. I'd put 5 or 6 cabs of the same material on dop...then I'd get bored with working that material after about the 3rd cab. Most times now, I'll only dop three of any particular species at one time...or I really try hard not to exceed that! LOL |

I just got myself some accelerator spray for super glue. That’s how I’ve been dopping even though I have a dop pot. The spray really helped. Super glue doesn’t harden near as fast on rocks as it does in fingers! And my dop pot keeps getting used for a coffee cup warmer!🤣
I can see getting tired of a material. I cut 5 triangle preforms out of one slab and have been working on those. I’m not tired of it yet because I’m still figuring out my own methods and pleased to get pretty much anything done but I am hoping I’ll be good enough fairly soon to get into some of my higher grade material. 🤞

The first Gary Green is really graceful.
But wow, here I'm thinking I might have a pretty small slablette I purchased at the local rock show, and here you are using it for practice! Clearly your practices are much different than mine. 
But I think you need to challenge yourself to come up with an appropriate wrap for Frankenstein's brides pendant. I mean it has his blood line.
Another nice doublet, as well.
The sagenite tubes are pretty cool.
It would be interesting when you do your doublets, to show a photo of the 2 stones you are putting together, before hand.
I for one, have to go look up the individual stones to understand what you started with.

I never thought I would say this about your work, but I really don't like the first two... at all. Something about those shapes just don't work for me. However, the sagenite on the other hand, IS AWESOME. |

Jasoninsd, 1 & 3 are my favorites. I would like for you to rotate #2 180 degrees and see how it appears to the eye and then wrap it with three balls(swirls) or hangers on the bottom.
