This may be a long shot but can I get any help on ID'ing this material? My old notes say it's Apache Agate from Mexico but it doesn't look like any Apache I can find on line. It's pretty and comes in a range of colors but I can't find any true comparables.

looks like Malawi agate to me Thanks but it's definitely Mexican. I think Robin's post is right -- I was mislead by the predominant reds shwon by the Gem Shop's write-up.

Thanks for all that research hummingbirdstones . I'd actually looked at the Gem Shop write-up previously and Gene's emphasis and images on the predominant reds misled me. I now agree: it's Apache of the banded variety. I bought mine long ago and the clues that finally convinced me were his mention of the irregular nodule shapes and the calcite inclusions. My nodules were wildly shaped and so full of calcite it was very hard to select and area to cab. Thanks again!
