Wasn't sure which forum this would be best under, I didn't cut these, but they are slabs, so this seemed like an ok place to post. I found these slabs in a small box labeled "Blue Wood - Nevada". They were part of some rocks that I bought at an auction quite awhile ago. I thought they looked pretty cool and decided to show them off. Can anybody tell me more about it? Like where in Nevada etc. Pictures taken wet, but indoors, so the colors are a little bit muted. For the 1st picture, the bigger piece is about 5 inches across and the other is about 3 inches. The white-ish areas are translucent. BlueWood_Nevada1 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr These next 2 pieces look completely different although there were some darker slabs like above that had good sized light colored areas so I suppose these could be blue wood also. The pieces are 3.5 and 4 inches wide. Do you see the face in the upper slab? BlueWood_Nevada2 by Shiny Objects, on Flickr

I'm a huge Nevada fan but I can't help either. Both of those are some beautiful rough. Please keep us posted on your progress with these.

Yep, Hubbard Basin. That's a lucky find. That should take a real nice polish.

Beautiful pieces of Hubbard Basin. Vince is correct - they will polish up beautifully.

So does anyone else see the creepy pudgy baby face in the upper right corner of the top slab in the 2nd pic?

That white orb has the perfect weird smiley face in it. if you look at the bigger picture, the googly eyes both orbs form is creepier.
