Some of you may not know that that site is not a good place to go as it does not give accurate info and he only has the site to pimp out google ads.
I will give you an example. One of the places he lists is a mine in Congress AZ. If you go there, you will find a big sign that says that it is private property and not open to the public. This is way before you come near the actual coordinates. There are more, some are dead, some are illegal to go to or collect at and some are downright dangerous.
I would encourage everyone to avoid that site. I did my research and went to places he listed to see if he was FoS. and he was.
Here is a video from a well known you tuber who has the same conclusion. (he is a self admitted a-hole BTW) Sometimes he can be quite blunt. Keep that in mind.

I agree. He also lists pay to dig sites without stating that is what they are and also lists parks that are off limit altogether to collecting.

Wooo to the youtubers that have fake or staged rockhounding videos LOL.

I prefer being called an asshole in recovery who experiences occasional relapses, but in my defense I try to make up for it by being helpful to people.

On the subject of the Rockhound Resource website, since I published that video fact checking his locations I know of at least one person that was able to reach out to the creator and get him to remove one of the locations list on his website that is private property, so credit where credit is due but that was only one location and after the fact.
I have thought a lot about this subject since land ownership plays such a big roll in our hobby, its my opinion that its completely reckless to give people GPS locations and tell them to go there with out checking the land status first.
To give you an idea, I checked Rock Resource's Washington state listings in 3 hours, and I checked the whole book Rockhounding Oregon in 1 day. There is no excuses for these authors to not do it themselves.

Currently Rockhounding What resources/sites do you use to check land ownership and what location info do you enter (gps, address, etc)?

That's incredibly bad! Some folks prefer researching online, but my friends Ruta Vaskys and Martin Freed write the "Rockhounding in New Mexico" and the "Rochounding in Texas" books and two years ago they spent the winter in NM hounding around to do an update of the book. Last winter they spent the winter traveling and collecting Texas to do an update on that one, so their info is pretty up to date.
