Very pretty. Love the color in those. Nice and simple, too.

Hmmm...I have some small round pieces dopped up right now that I'm going to have be working on in the next day or two. I guess I know at least one of us can do gorgeous rounds! I'm super impressed the holes don't have any apparent chipping on them!!

I'm super impressed the holes don't have any apparent chipping on them!! You broke those wheels in quick! LOL Placement of the drilled holes so close to the outer edge allowed for removal of any chipping during the shaping of the dome on either side. Oh freakin' duh! I didn't think about drilling the holes before doming!! Sheesh! Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees! LOL Yeah...we'll see about the wheels. I worked a couple obsidian cabs the other day to see how the wheels reacted. One cab was wicked weird. It had these micro-fractures throughout the whole piece. They weren't on the surface. At first I thought they might have been caused by the saw blade if it chattered when cutting the slab. But these went all the way through the material...not just a sub-surface only type of thing. The other cab came out beautifully. Now we'll see if I can do it two more times...and get the dimensions right! LOL

LOL One more reason to drill those holes first is location, I find it a lot easier to mark the shape around each hole and do the shaping of the preform afterward. Way easier to not mess up! LOL You know, I like to play dumb quite often as it keeps expectations from others on the low end of the spectrum...but it's moments like this - where I don't see a "simple" solution - which make me question the analysis I have of my own intelligence! LOL
