I wrapped a couple of the cabs that I swapped with jasoninsd. My light tent is buried again, so I went with these. It doesn't show the twinkle of the disco beads woven into the bail or the twinkle of a wee bit of druzy in the plume doublet. I LOVE this cab!
The other is a baby agua nueva. It's so damn cute with a full pattern in a little stone. I love it! I definitely feel like I got the better end of the swap. But, hopefully, I made up for it in a deal for cutting some rough. I think he'll be a happy camper. The next one is an African Kunzite. It has a thick girdle so I tried a new way of using the wide wire. Not terribly happy with it, but I learned a few things. And, lastly a lapis with too much pyrite for my liking. It has an odd shape that I tried to balance.
Thanks for looking! I plan to wrap or cab today. Fingers crossed for a productive day.

That cab swap obviously has you motivated. I happen to like the lapis out of the bunch.

All great wraps but the aqua nueva is also my favorite and the doublet second.

Gorgeous! Have to say the African Kunzite rock and the wrap (heart!!) is just stunning. I love all of them, but the pink (purple?)/black combo with the bright silver just jumps out at me!

I'm with victor1941. The Agua Nueva is my favorite and the doublet is second. Great set of wraps all around, Tela!

I like your use of the little bit of black wire on the Kunzite. How do you like working with the colored wire? The Agua is really nice, probably my favorite of the stones here. It looks like you barely hold the stone with your wire, it matches the perimeter shape and doesn’t obstruct the front of the stone at all. I think your cab swap was a good idea!

All are spectacular! Great cabs, great wraps! The last two, though, I *really* appreciate your balancing act on the lapis, and you pulled it off perfectly. I also like the mix of wire on the kunzite and the simplicity of the rest that really draws your eyes toward it, as well as the pattern.

Laying eyes on new cabs is always inspiring. I like the lapis wrap. I just don't like that much pyrite. Personal preference thing. All great wraps but the aqua nueva is also my favorite and the doublet second. Thank Victor- those are both Jason's. Beautiful cabs! Thanks for stopping in. Gorgeous! Have to say the African Kunzite rock and the wrap (heart!!) is just stunning. I love all of them, but the pink (purple?)/black combo with the bright silver just jumps out at me! I like the kunzite, too. I don't remember what the black is. It didn't bleed black and it was fairly hard. I like rhodonite, too, for the fabulous color combination. One of my favorites. I'm with victor1941 . The Agua Nueva is my favorite and the doublet is second. Great set of wraps all around, Tela! Thanks, Robin! Admittedly, they aren't terribly flashy, but the stones themselves are so great- why compete? I like your use of the little bit of black wire on the Kunzite. How do you like working with the colored wire? The Agua is really nice, probably my favorite of the stones here. It looks like you barely hold the stone with your wire, it matches the perimeter shape and doesn’t obstruct the front of the stone at all. I think your cab swap was a good idea! I have a love hate relationship with colored wire. I love how it looks, but it's just not that durable and it's hard to work with without marring or nicking it. But, I don't mind that small amount.
After I do a wrap, I try to get the stone out with reasonable force. Only once did I have something come off- it was a rhodochrosite with a 6mm African amethyst above it. I popped the set stone out. Didn't see that coming. But, I fixed it. I'm sure if one really tried, they could get any one of them out.
The trick to a secure wrap is to form the wire to the stone. What you are trying to do is make your own bezel wire. Now you've picked my brain.
Thank you, Susan. You always make my day. I love your invaluable feedback. Thanks for noticing.

I have been on pins and needles in anticipation of seeing those first two cabs wrapped! They look amazing Tela! I was pondering the other day which aspect of this hobby piques my interest the most. I came to the conclusion cabbing is my favorite part of this hobby. I do enjoy wire wrapping, but it almost seems like a means to an end for me...meaning I had to come up with something to do with my cabs, so I started wrapping them. Almost every cab I make, I make it because for one reason or another I think it might look amazing. So, I'm utterly pleased to see my cabs play a supporting role in someone else's artwork.

I wish you could see that doublet in person. The little bits of sparkle get your attention and makes you want to look at the plumes closer. If you think your wife would wear it, I'll send it to you.
I'm really not really surprised to hear that your not really into wrapping- I can tell you really, really love to slab n cab. That's cool. But, you really do have a talent for it. I hope you keep up your skills and wrap for friends and family once in awhile.

LOL Thank you for that very generous offer! I do believe that stone would be too big for her to wear. She did see a certain material I cut in the last couple days that she immediately said she wanted a wrap made from...but I don't know if I want to cough one up for her out of that particular material! LOL Just always know you got my very first doublet I ever made! LOL

I do like that 2nd one. While I wouldn’t do all wire wraps in color I think the occasional colorful design makes for some fun variety. I have read elsewhere too that it can be very difficult to not marr the wire. Thanks for posting these.

Those are all outstanding. That Agua Nueva caught my eye big time but then again I guess I'm drawn to agates. I also like the little bit of colored wire and totally understand about the hazards of working with it. The disco balls in the weave are a really nice touch.
