Hi and welcome. Are you using the free forum account and if so how far did you get with the installation of it?

Just a silly question on this topic. Why can't we just load photos directly from our computers? I am a member of a half dozen forums and this is the only one that requires a photo hosting site to enter photos. One I am a member of requires a $30 annual paid membership to do so which I'd gladly pay here for the convenience. (The $30 membership on that forum includes other capabilities) Why should I/we have to use a photo hosting site and go through taking photo, entering it into computer, transferring to a hosting site and then transferring to here? This is the 21st century and this should be easy and quick. Just reading the instructions here to load from cloudinary makes me tired and confused. And why is reducing size of file necessary? I don't need to bother with that either on other sites.

Our situation is the forum was created on Proboards software way back in the early 2000's and the Proboards photo uploading is extremely outdated (and extremely expensive) and limited to a data level that we would fill (and thus render useless) in about a year. I've also been asked many times why dont we move to a different forum software and I would love nothing more, but Proboards does not play nice and will not release the database. In other words the only option is to walk away from 10k+ members and over a million posts and start a new forum from scratch.

Hi and welcome. Are you using the free forum account and if so how far did you get with the installation of it? Hello Tommy...I think I followed all of the steps leading to the free Cloudinary registration: I can upload pictures to Cloudinary without problem: When I attempt to download a picture to a Test posting nothing happens: Maybe I'm doing or not doing something: Here's whats happening: I open a new thread and click on "INSERT IMAGE": A box opens asking for an IMAGE URL / ( I have no idea what this means): I then tried clicking on the "Cloudinary Upload": A Box Opens that says to "Drag and Drop Assets" or Browse":
I appreciate all the help from everyone...Thank You (Skip)

skipmeister are your pictures on your computer? If so all you have to do is click on the Cloudinary Upload button. Click on "Browse" and navigate to wherever your picture is on your hard drive. Double click on the picture (or click on open) and it will automatically upload to Cloudinary and show up in your post.

Thank you for trying to help...I can get the pictures off of my computer to Cloudinary exactly as you describe; the Cloudinary "Drag or Browse" box receives the picture; I then click the highlighted :Done" button:
nothing appears in the post:
NOTE: I did notice in the top left corner of the "Drag/Browse" Box, the following: "UNKNOWN API KEY"....
Also, I use a Linux OS.

Dang. Double check to make sure you put your Cloudinary Cloud Name and Cloudinary Upload Preset in the RTH Cloudinary Upload Settings under your profile. (My Profile - Edit Profile - Settings) and scroll down to the Cloudinary settings. Make sure you save them if they're not in there after you put them in and that you have at least the Local Search box checked under them. That's all I can think of.

1: Upload photos to cloudinary. 2: copy url link of the photo. 3: On the forum, hit the create thread/reply to button. 4: a select box will appear where you can write texts. The ribbon at the top will have a icon that’s for images [image insert]. Click that. 5: clear the image url box I.e (http://) then past the copied url link from cloudinary. Select insert image. 6: once done, scroll to the bottom right of the text box and select create post.
