I attended a rock show today on a whim. Hadn't planned to go because I heard it was mostly crystals, beads and holistic stuff which doesn't interest me. I methodically walked the rows and when I got to the very last table I found some nice slabs for reasonable prices. What a pleasant surprise.

Very nice finds. I see lots of rocks and slabs for sale around here that list their healing attributes. The prices are extremely high for most.

Well those are quite different than the sh!t you normally post! Those really are a score Randy! I'm assuming that's Larsonite at the bottom...I really like that one in particular!!

Ya got me there, Jason! I'm the crappiest member of RTH and unrepentant for it too. I asked the guy what it was and he didn't know but guessed some kind of pet wood from Oregon. I have no idea what it is but would like somebody to enlighten me.

I'm still guessing it's a killer piece of Gary Green (aka Larsonite...now Freedom Jasper).

My guess would actually be Hampton butte green petrified wood. I have some that looks similar. Also… oddly enough, I got some green jasper I discovered recently that looks identical. Could come from same area here in central Oregon.
What is that first material? Got some of that too, laying out in the rock garden.

That first one...I've had some Craig's Gulch Picture Jasper that has that "sectioned" look to it. This one of Randy's is SUPER weird as each "section" looks like it's from a different location. One spot looks like Craig's Gulch, another looks like Original Owyhee, another looks like Rocky Butte, another looks like Cripple Creek. To me, it seems to be predominantly Rocky Butte...

I looked at images of Larsonite online and there were a few that matched. When I closely examined the slab it appears it's petrified bog wood. I was told the other slabs are western Nevada material, perhaps Dead Camel neighborhood. It's all distinctive enough I'm sure there's folks here that know. roy

Nice find, really likes the 2nd pic. The color combo’s and patten striations are intriguing. I seeing different stone shapes already. Congrats

The first one looks like some kind of Owyhee jasper. Second and fifth ones are Noreena jasper. Third one looks like it could be Cheeta jasper. 4 is Indian Paint Stone. That last one sure looks like the original Larsonite to me. Those are my guesses.

Old style Larsonite/Gary green would be my vote, though it could definitely be from hampton as well. The first looks like old stock Gem Owyhee from the area they're "rehabbing" now. 3rd looks like Yellow Feather to me.

I do believe you are correct, Lee. How did I live this long and never hear of Yellow Feather?
