I don't normally post only one cab...but this Regency Rose Plume Agate Doublet has a holographic backing and was my first "test piece" doing this.
As always, thanks for taking a gander!

I found this very thin holographic material and epoxied it between the agate and the backing. I wasn't too sure if it was going to work or not! I'm pretty stoked that it worked!

jasoninsd You’ve taken cabbing to a new level. The materials are perfect together. It pops but it still grabs my eye for a much longer look.
Well done.
Thank you so much my friend!
I can't take credit for a "new level". I spent a lot of time perusing old threads on doublets. I've seen a LOT of different materials mentioned for using behind the agate...everything from mirrors to foil wrapping paper. I happened to see this material when I was dragged to the store by my wife...and thought it might make the dang grocery shopping trip worth it! LOL

Wow, Jason! I know we discussed it, but in the "flesh" it is really something!!! I didn't think it would be as evident, but it sure is flashy. Super nice!
Uh oh, look out, the door has been flown open to possibilities.

Thank you my friend!
That's the first time I posted a video...I'm glad I was able to figure out how to do that so I could show the "flash" as the light hits it from different angles!

Did you use cloudinary to post the video? I see that it isn't YT.
I did! I wondered if it was going to work...and sure enough, it seems to! I think I remember seeing the video was 35mb as it was uploading...so I don't know if size plays a factor with the video posting or not...

Well...I did it last night...so technically it's in the past! LOL - I suppose one could see it as futuristic...or nostalgic...like "psychedelic" from the 60s! LOL

It's beautiful! Great job on making that cab super special.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

Thanks Robin!
My wife says I'm special too...but there's a certain "tone" when she says it! LOL

So amazing! There is so much depth there - love it! when I posted my video of the crazy lace I had to cut it from 22 seconds to 20 seconds before it would upload - not sure about the MB size though - I'm sure there's some parameter.

If I can find a relatively clear agate with dark plumes, I want to see what kind of effect it would have. I think if the plumes are too light, they'll get lost in the glare. However, the light does need to catch the backing just right for it to "blare"...so maybe the light plumes are still ok... (Thinking out loud! LOL)
Thanks for saying something about the video. I wondered if size or time was a factor. Sounds like it's definitely the time!

Dang jasoninsd, since basanite was no longer doing the trick you had to go out and poach some high tech holographic material from the space shuttle to make a dang cabochon with lol?
Seriously though, excellent work! It looks other worldly! The "flash" reminds me of the color bar on opal. Keep up the innovation sir!

Now I’m going to back one with fire obsidian, cut it into a whacky shape and call it “designer” 😂 Some Carey overlayed over some fire. Call it “Custom plume fancy designer cabochon” to create a whole new genre.
