Looks like it could be Morado opal (Mexican purple opal). I could agree with that now seeing pics. It had that Tiffany stone look, but not quite. So I knew it had to be something similar

Here are shots of some of the "crap" we have here. Last one shows the preferred color. Harder to find now.

Does that have banding around the edges? Yeah. Was making it hard for me to identify. I almost thought it could be Tiffany. But I don’t have a lot of experience with stuff like this.

I take it that it’s relatively expensive stuff? Similar to Tiffany stone? I have a bunch of it scattered through various buckets and would like to compile all of it if it’s worth a penny or two.

Not terribly expensive, but it's hard to find rough anymore. I saw one listing for it on fleabay for about $6.30 an oz. Lots of people have some crap Bertrandite rough up that they're also calling Morado, but it isn't.

I always like to ask, because I really have zero idea what some types of material go for. You guys and people on the forum have been a huge help for helping me get an idea what’s valuable and what’s not. If it’s not central Oregon material or plume, I’m pretty clueless on material prices

Purple crap with a side of German shepherd? That’s Randy. He’s the resident chief gem and mineral inspector.

One thing to keep in mind with all of the material I post, is it came from very old collections. Some was obtained from extremely old stocks. I have no clue if that helps with identifying some of the material. I can identify a lot of material, but stuff like this.... forget about it.

Same, I got lucky at an auction and I have buckets of old stock stuff. It's how I learned what a lot of things were. Still have some material, I have no clue other than maybe the region they came from. I kick myself for not buying more that day
