That sucks that you had to buy and oven too. I got a cheapo from the thrift store. The thermostat is WAY off. Like 25 degrees at least, but it will down to 100 or so. Yeah, I was gonna go to the thrift store, but I don't want to take any chances. The cheapo from the store was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad! Hoping the new one will be better. If not, I'll return it. It is much larger, though- I can fit a lot of slabs in it.

Well, I waffled. I canceled the other order and got the one you pointed out for almost 100 less. I just hope it works out ok. It won't be here for a flippin' week, though! Me too, now that you ordered the one I found !!!
Keep in mind -Those rocks have been waiting for their soak for a long time, they'll manage for another week ( if you can). Patty

I hadn't thought about that one Lee, Rockoonz . But here's one already to go out of the box Tela, rockjunquie
I use one like this in my greenhouse to turn on the heater in the winter. You set the heater (or oven) on max and set the controller to the temp you want it to come on and switch off at.
You'd just have to check that the controller is rated with high enough amps to deal with the oven wattage.
Amazon links still don't seem to work for me, I seem to have to cut & paste.

It's just the two of us now. We use a counter top oven all the time. Today, I will test it. If it will work for my plans, I will keep the old one for rocks and keep the new one for the house. If THAT doesn't work, I'll test the new one- if THAT one won't do, then I may think about that. I'm not in a hurry to do it.

I was going to tell you to look at air fryers, too. They do the same thing.

I actually don't use mine much. Kind of a waste. Maybe I'll try the CJ with it. ETA: I was thinking a dehydrator would be good for the CJ, but none of them go to 200.

Tela, I use a turkey roaster for heat treating knappable rock. Take the liner our, drill a couple small holes in the lid to insert high temperature BBQ grill thermometers in to get accurate readings. You can put a rack/racks inside for slabs. Picked my roaster up for $10.00 at a thrift store.

When you’re done with the rocks, you’ll have enough gear for a cookin’ blog. : )

I tested my current counter oven. At 150 it is 200 F. It also has a 2 hr timer, which is nice, but I didn't have to have. If we like the new oven, I'll use the old one. The temp goes 150 and below.

My slabs have been soaking in 1/2 simple green and 1/2 water. There is no hint of oil, so I'm gonna pull them out and soak in fresh water for q couple days, til Fri when my oven comes. Sat I am giving a wrapping lesson, so Sunday looks like go day. YAY!!!! I hope the simple green didn't turn any rocks green. I wish I had thought of that before hand. DH went to the store for some dish washing gloves. It's killing me thinking some may have turned green. OMG. Pins and needles.
