I heard today that Namibian blue lace agate and Aussie Outback jasper are both "mined out". I say that but really the blue lace isn't allowed to leave the country and the Outback is on Indigenous land.
Anyone else hear this?

I heard that about the blue lace a long time ago. You didn't see much of it for sale for a while. I've noticed more recently. It's just their way of jacking up prices.

Re the Blue Lace, it was for sale "everywhere" years ago - but not so much recently. People do still love it. We've gotten a lot of requests for it.
The Outback might well be another casualty of the large amount of lands returned to indigenous control in Australia. That's what has happened to a number of the opal fields there. No more commercial mining allowed in those fields.

Can you tell me if Blue Lace Agate is actually agate. I've cut some of it and it didn't cut like agate at all.

Uhhhh - not a mineralogist. If Mindat calls it agate, I'm good with that... .

I noticed some prices of the OB jasper and wondered why. Now I know.
There is some available on the gem shop . I was thinking of scooping some up, but I really have never liked the look of it.

Wow! Went looking at slabs. Slim pickens and the prices are insane. One ad says it is mined out.

I've never seen that material go for that much ever so I was wondering if it was something new. Not impressed with it still at those prices

On each? I might go grab more since I can get it close by. Then set on it for another 30 years 😂

I just got it for 6 lb, so for 20lbs it was 148 with shipping. There is a seller that wants 445 for approximately 28lbs. I won't say much but that seller ask pretty high prices for his stuff in general
