I just got this in the mail from an Etsy seller. It looks like left over slabbing pieces but still, the pattern is beautiful! I can’t wait until I have a barrel free next week so I can get started. Next time I get some of this amazing rock I will go to a better source for material. I’ve heard many times that the rock shed is good, so I think that’s where my next order will be from. Velo, here's a thread where I did some cabs from material from The Rock Shed: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/100153/exotica-jasper-sagenite-agate-stromatolite

I ended up ordering several items from the rock shed. Their prices are decent enough.

75% of more are poor quality pieces in that photo. I have got about 10lbs of this from Rock Shed, all in first 2 stages, and less than 25% of it is of this poor quality. You have to break or saw around the porous areas and open cracks. Sometimes a new problem area opens up in rough grind, it's the nature I think of this material.

I have some tumbling now. I have 3 pieces that made it through to polish. They didn't come out perfect, but they got a good shine. I did 80-500 grit in the rotary then finished them in a Lot-O. There are 3 porcelain jaspers in the top left of this pic (I already posted this pic in a thread called "rejects" because each stone exhibited some flaw that I couldn't grind out)

Nice! What is that material with the red in it just above the Montana agates?

The only stuff I tried was this 2lb batch I got. But it was nice stuff. It is pretty solid and takes a nice shine. All the different colors had uniform hardness. About 10-15% of the material had some porosity that I couldn't grind out, but most was solid. It polished like an unakite. It is NOT variable hardness like some kambaba jasper, and it is a lot prettier.

Thanks! Going to have to get me some of that. Think I had heard of it before but not entirely sure.

It kind of gets more away from the porcelain jasper theme/topic here, but that Dragon’s blood stuff takes a good polish and I find it to be pretty easy to work with.
