spending too much on rocks

I've read many of the articles here on RTH about stabilizing. I've tried the art resin technique but can't get the resin to shine in the finishing steps. I have developed an interest in the CA starbond to seal, and fill in the small hair line fractures found in so many rocks. One of the articles here stated that after about 2 years, the CA would crack and open up. Has anyone using CA as a stabilizer or crack filler experienced this? I'm also wondering if the rock or slab should be heated prior to application of the CA so as to open the pores of the rock? CA use is certainly cheaper, in my opinion, for stabilizing and filling cracks and voids, than the two part epoxy and the quite expensive acetone. If you have any opinions on the use of starbond CA, its application, curing, and finishing, please let me know. By the way, I do not have a wheel setup for finishing. I use a rotary tumbler for the initial smoothing then I use a Lot-O for all the later steps and polishing. Does this procedure have any bearing on the use of the CA on the rocks and slabs?
Thanks for your help,
Jim

I haven't used any stabilizer in the past. I have bought stabilized material. I recently bought a piece of chrysocolla rough that had been stabilized with starbond. I bought some to try out. I did a few slabs and some preforms. I ground the preforms and was pleased with the improvement to the cabs by eliminating vugs. The material penetrated the stone well. I didn't heat. If the product fails after a few years it would kill sales.
