So, my husband got me a double Lot-O this last Christmas. I hadn't used the Lot-O yet, because it wasn't mounted to anything. I've been posting about my concrete top workbench, Where I briefly mounted the Lot-O before moving to a pile on 9 blocks (3 layers of 3). I have only used the Lot-O a few times, and earlier this week it started making a really loud noise.
I called to talk with the manufacturer. I spoke with a lady who told me to check a few things, but that she wasn't really knowledgable with them. The troubleshooting guy would be in on Saturday. No offer to take my name and number so he can call me. So, today being Saturday, I called. Their voicemail is full so you can't leave a voicemail. I called, 4 times, an finally got a hold of the guy.
Wow. Can I say I have had better customer service from rocks? He was not nice, nor helpful. And I get that I'm at or *slightly* over the 90 day warranty window. (Of ownership, definitely NOT 90 days of use.) He had NO INTEREST in helping me.
"Use it until it dies," he said. "Use it until it dies." "There is nothing I can do if the motor is running."
That could be tomorrow. It will definitely be soon. I'm guessing I'll be lucky to get 90 days of use out of it.
I have a single Lot-O That I have had for a few years, and it is excellent. Zero issues.
Up until now I would always recommend a Lot-O. Now, I don't know. Buyer beware.

You're not the first person who has gotten sh*t service from him. Someone else's Lot-O was making noise and there's a thread somewhere about it. You might do a search and see if you can find it.

Yeah, I remember reading it. I know a lot of people come here for reviews. So, here's one more! I also remember reading their quality has been running downhill a while now. I will run it until it dies, and know I can replace the motor...just frustrating.

Damn, I'm sorry. That blows. What makes businesses think that's acceptable?

Sorry to hear about that. Mine lasted 9 months but sounded terrible the last six months. Since you have had one for a while, you probably know the weights on the fan have to be aligned. Other than that I don't know any other suggestions for the sound.

I'm so sorry to hear this news!! I'm pretty sure the other person who had issues also spoke with a guy - I happened to luck out and a lady answered and she was super helpful. However, when I sent a follow up email asking about timing (I was very polite) I got a three-word response from a "Tom" I think, who just said 'Sent Priority today'...I'm so sorry - they are going to lose a bunch of business if they don't up their customer service.

I got my Lot-O in December also. It's just a single, but I still worry every time I use it. I worry about fire the most. Haven't heard of one catching fire but anything electric is susceptable to fire. I DO check the fan alignment before each use to make sure they are in alignment with each other. No problems there as they are always in sinc. It might help to give you peace of mind if you check yours each use. Shawn at the "Rock Shed" did a posting, I believe, on replacing the motor. It was for a single but you might want to check with him about motor replacement for a double. There was also a posting on here, I think called "Lot-O motor problems" or "Lot-O motor replacement". Also try "my problems with the Lot-O motor". One or all of these postings may be of some help for you.
I wish you good luck. It's hard to find anything that's good AND dependable anymore. I don't know if it's a China problem or an American Company problem. Or possibly the "throw away" mentality that has become so prevalent nowadays.
Let us know how things work out for you.

I bought a double Lot - O from Shawn at the Rock Shed last year and it's still in the box.. I need to get it going to see if there are any bugs with it. There is a YouTube video on Lot - O's also, gives out great information ..
