Nice stuff, wonder if there are quarries on a river near you that should be explored.

This reminded me of the good old days. 45 years ago when I was in college, I was working for 6 months in St. Paul. A roommate of mine suggested I look for Lakers in the gravel pits along the Mississippi River in Winona. In those days, companies weren't so concerned about getting sued and you could usually walk into the gravel pits on Sunday when they typically weren't operating machinery. OK, maybe I climbed a short fence a time or two. They had large piles of washed and sized rock, maybe 30 feet high, that you could climb up to look for agates. There were a lot of them and they were easy to spot since all of the rock was washed and you were basically looking horizontally in front of you was you climbed up. A while ago, I looked on Google Earth and all of those gravel pits were gone. There must be some left somewhere if they are still selling landscape rock with agates in them.

Nice score! I agree with what Rockoonz and chris1956 said about checking the local quarries.

Yeah I’m not sure where this came from, wish I knew. We mostly only have limestone and chert around here with most being limestone.
