My first real tumbler was a Thumlers Model T. After 16 years of faithful service the motor gave up the ghost. This was the middle of covid so no motors were to be found. I was on the waiting list from several dealers but there just didn't seem to be any available for nearly 2 years. I had pretty much given up when they suddenly appeared everywhere, but they went from about $20 to over $40. I decided to upgrade the motor for my AR12 as it won't restart with a barrel on the rollers unless I give it some help (it will roll just fine once it gets going). I have been overloading the 12 Lb barrel lately, so I upgraded to a Model B motor and with some very crude metal working I fabricated a bracket to hold the motor from the AR12 on the base of the Model T. I basically built an AR-1! All my other 3 Lb barrels are on an AR-2, but sometimes I need a single and was really missing the Model T. Once I got the spacing all figured out it was just a matter of cutting up the case from the Model T housing and bolting everything together. It ain't pretty, but it works!
