Hello, Mark. How are you doing?
I'm pretty certain that map was drawn by Mary Frances Strong. She was doing that some time back in Desert Magazine, just about one in every monthly issue.
She also did the same type of maps to rockhounding locations in Desert Gem Trails.
I have scanned filles of most of the Desert Magazines on my HP (computer, not saw, lol), that are easily searched, if you want to know which issue of DM it came from. And/or I can take a look at my copy of AZ Desert Gem Trails tomorrow and get back to you.
Since I no longer have to get up by a certain time (unless I have a doctor's appointment or something), I've been finding it increasingly harder to get to bed before midnight

I have a PDF with a few of these on it. I chose that particular one because it does not give up a cool spot I have yet to explore. As a matter of fact, I just talked to the guy who owns the land you need to cross to get to Woodpecker and he has closed the gate because the roads are now so bad that the side by sides can no longer make it most of the time let alone the trucks.
I was hoping it was a book I didn't know about. Somewhere I have a ton of Desert Magazine PDFs. I will have to look at them.

Not saying it is, but Elkins gem shop (Hoot and Judy Elkins) had maps like this that were very very similar. Might look into that just to verify.
