Beach Find I finally finished up my other found object from the March wrapper's challenge. It's a broken shell piece I found at the beach, which I coaxed into being a more wrap-ably appealing shape (hopefully). I started out with a woven wrap & with the shell shape, & the back dropping off - I didn't feel the shell was held tight enough, so I came up with using a small wire to follow the lines (grooves) of the shell on the front, & end in a twist on the back. It actually worked, and I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. On a side note- I tumbled the completed wrap and the shell was not damaged at all. It's nice to know that something so soft can survive the tumbler. Thanks for looking , Patty

Very cool! The shell is nice and I like the way you brought the wires up through the grooves. Great wrap!
I don't know if you know or not, but grinding shells is poisonous/hazardous, but I assume you used a lot of water. Just had to mention it.
The first wrap I ever sold (If selling to a relative counts) was a sea shell fragment.

The thin wire actually even fit in those groves- I was feeling lucky ! And YES it counts if you sell to a relative, especially if they are paying you $ .
Actually, I didn't know that grinding shells was hazardous,
although now that you said it, I do remember reading a post that mentioned it not too long ago.
Yes, I used lots of water AND I'm not making a career of grinding shells , so I'm not terribly worried.
Personally, I would think dry grinding any shell or stone or whatnot can't be good for you.
But it would seem, that with most things, that water on the wheels, would keep in under control,
with the amount I'm doing any of it.
Thanks for the warning & reminder - I'll be aware next time.

I like it. I actually like the wire across the front. It matches the shell design and adds a copper design element to the front. 👍
